Who We Are...

Initially created in 1915 by Henry "Hy" Giessenbier, Jr. in St. Louis, Missouri, The Young Men's Progressive Civic Association (YMPCA) was made up of 32 young men, age 18-35. They developed their leadership and business skills by tackling civic problems. This developed into the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce in January, 1920.

In 1984, the membership voted to admit women, and in 1987, the age range was changed to 21-39. Opportunities in the year 2000 and beyond are endless. Today, more than 100 countries are part of the Junior Chamber International.

The Jaycee Creed

We Believe...
That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life;
That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations;
That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise;
That the government should be of laws rather than of men;
That earth's great treasure lies in human personality;
And that service to humanity is the best work of life.

Our Mission:

To provide young people the opportunity to develop personal and leadership skills through local community service and organizational involvement while expanding the Jaycee movement.
