Albert and Corrie Von Sommeren arrived, and as they settled in, Peter took us to Heilbronn, where we did some shopping and sightseeing. Visited the old public square, before heading back to Pfedelbach and Rentzen. Once back, we picked up Albert and Corrie, and headed to the Jagst river valley. We first stopped at the Cloister of Schontal. The basilica there was breathtaking, as I took plenty of pictures of the interior.
We then headed up river towards Krautheim, one of the locations of our Fromhold ancestry. A gentleman guided us through the old castle, built in the 13th century, with later additions, and took us up the tower. The view from this was fantastic, and well worth the climb up, although the steps up were very narrow, steep, and somewhat weak. We had a good time, and Albert translated for us, before we took one more pic of the palace steps.
Before leaving Krautheim, we stopped and saw the old tavern once owned by a Fromhold, and visited the cemetery. Interesting about cemeteries in Europe. You only rent the grave plot for about 15 years. Then, they dig up you bones, place them in the cemetery chapel, in a place called the bone crypt, and then bury someone else in the vacated grave.
We returned to Rentzen, then went out for dinner with Albert, Corrie, Peter and Anna Rose. Albert and I also went over genealogy, as he shared some information with me.
