| Project Warm-up | Retired and Senior Volunteer Program 1424 Main St. Lewiston ID 83501 | "We serve five Idaho counties (Nez Perce, Clearwater, Latah, Idaho and Lewis) and two Washington counties (Asotin and Garfield). We take knitted, crocheted and quilted items that include hats, scarves, mittens, lap robes, baby blankets and booties. Last year, we donated over a thousand items created by 36 volunteers. The volunteers put in over 7,000 hours making their beautiful creations. Items go to local nursing homes, homeless shelters and pregnancy care centers." Anne Vassar |

Tacoma Goodwill Industries employs a large number (64) of foreign-born workers. Most in the Tacoma area are from South Viet Nam and Cambodia. They are also students in Goodwill's ESL (English as a Second Language) Program. These workers are older and are first generation refugees to the U.S. They work extremely hard under difficult conditions. They stand 8 hours a day. In the winter, the production area where they work is very cold. It would be wonderful if I could give them newly made warm scarves to wear. |
