Climbing Wetherfell

We started out with a short morning walk around the village. And Nancy takes advantage of one of the playgrounds.

Armed with a full English breakfast, we set out to conquer Wetherfell. In the US Southwest, it would be a mesa. Basically, stright up the south side of Gayle. This year, we take the marked path across the lane from East House. And don't get lost!

That's it, viewed from the bottom. You go all the way up on the left side of the left picture, then along the ridge to the right and beyond the right edge of the right picture. They you turn south and cross muddy fields to the Roman Road. Along that, above Semmerwater towards Bainbridge until you go left and down int Burtersett and, finally, back to Hawes. About 8 miles.

Chuck, on the ridge.

A tad windy.

A couple we met, with Harvey.

And a very curious Bruce.

On top of the world. Hey, a jet fighter went by here - below us!.

A lizard Chck spotted on our way down through a marshy area.

And back to town for a pub stop. Then a long walk along the River Ure. And around the shops - including the Wenslydale Creamery for more Brymor ice cream - and cheese, of course. And "home" to rest and shower before a stroll back for dinner. Which we've certainly earned.
