Korea Campaign 2024

February 22, 2024

Korea Campaign 2024 is finally here, and here and here .  {For gallery pictures, scroll down.}

This is a 40-mission fictional campaign set that takes place from October 31, 2024 to February 8th, 2025. Unlike other usnraptor campaigns that require the Playset to run, Korea Campaign 2024 is a stand-alone campaign set. This means it is designed to run solely in a default Fighters Anthology installation that has been properly patched to version 1.02.  Be sure to read the installation instructions found inside the .zip file, labeled READ ME .txt .

The campaign is a conglomeration of over 20 years of work by several people from several projects. Inside, players will find themselves deploying USNRaptor Playset aircraft and weapons, being challenged by wicked deadly SAMs by Centurian's Game Remod X, immersed in beautiful terrain and aircraft from CAG Hotshots FA Futures, gazing at a multitude of artistic majesty of various aircraft and ships by Eagle114th (aka Flowing Dragon),  Flopdog McSporran, Hawke's FASHion, J.K. Peterson's JKPFA, and Kap's Kapset; just to name a few.  For details, see Korea Project.txt inside the campaign set.

Campaign Features:

- All new terrain (classic FA Futures).

- Player flies 13 different aircraft and one vehicle.

- All missions posted as both Single Missions and Campaign Missions.

- Player guides to defeating difficult missions in the missions' Debrief - Mission Failure section.

Campaign development history

February 14th, 2017, I made a post on FARC Board asking for people's ideals on campaigns to build. One suggestion was a Korean campaign.  Though I passed at the time, that was still the moment I began mentally working on this campaign.

June 15th, 2021, Centurian mentioned the possibility of a campaign collaboration.  Some time later, preliminary work began on laying out a new map and building scenery for various cities, airbases, and potential targets; as well as lots of research about Korea itself : the history, militaries, society, way of life, etc...

August 2nd, 2022, I created this website and posted a proposal to the Fighters Anthology community asking for contributions for the campaign.  Soon after, CAG Hotshot and Centurian both graciously permitted my use of their individual, published materials.

In late 2022 - early 2023, mission building began. I had a very general, basic idea of how the campaign will play out and a list of possible endings.  But, as mentioned in other posts, the campaign ends up (sorta) writing itself.  This has been the case with all of my campaigns, including the historical ones.

By July 26th, 2023, twenty of the forty missions had been built.

February 12th, 2024, all forty missions were built. Then began creating the .CAM file, replaying the campaign, fixing all problems that arose from all the changes (particularly in the early missions), adjusting the .CAM file, replaying (most of) the campaign again, making final adjustments, creating this website, and packaging it all together.

February 22, 2024, in honor of George Washington's birthday, the initial release of Korean Campaign 2024.

I write this to give potential campaign creators a rough idea of the commitment it takes to develop a campaign.  The average great mission build time is a minimum of 12 hours.  40 missions x 12 hours per mission =   480 hours.  This campaign went well beyond that time commitment.  When you add all the time spent by others who have contributed, it very easily surpasses 1,000 hours, possibly even 2,000 hours or more.
