On this 61st Anniversary of the Tonkin Gulf Incident, I present the usnraptor Vietnam Campaign Set (packaged, Stand-Alone), available here, and here and here . All four usnraptor Vietnam Campaigns (Rolling Thunder, Linebacker, Yankee Station 1964 & 1972) have been packaged together into one set. {Note: this updated stand-alone version is NOT in the current Playset. It will be included in the Playset 5.0 release.} Be sure to read the installation instructions found inside the .zip file, labeled READ ME .txt .
This Vietnam Campaign Set is a collection of over 130 historically-based mission that take place in the North Vietnam aerial arena, from the very beginning to the very end. Unlike some other usnraptor campaigns that require the Playset to run, Vietnam Campaign Set is now a stand-alone campaign set. This means it is designed to run solely in a default Fighters Anthology installation that has been properly patched to version 1.02. {For gallery pictures, scroll down.}
Campaign Features:
- Player flies over a dozen aircraft and eight different mission types.
- All missions posted as both Single Missions and Campaign Missions.
- This campaign set is designed for advanced Fighters Anthology players. All missions are winnable.
- Player's aircraft is pre-armed and fueled with the "ideal" mission loadout, for every mission.
- Player's guide giving a brief mission description and goals, named "(campaign ) Mission Desciptions.txt".
- Special codes used. (example: "The Pilot is On-Board.")
- The appearance of various aircraft textures from CAG Hotshot, USNF '97, and others.
Campaign development history :
In 2017, dissatisfied with the default Vietnam campaign, I decided to research and ponder the possibility of creating a historical Vietnam campaign.
December 17, 2017, announced on my website : "Inspired partly by eBurger's 'Air War: North Vietnam Timeline', I have started my first Vietnam campaign. It is based on Navy ops starting with the Gulf of Tonkin incident and will run probably into 1967."
February 20, 2018, published the first of the Vietnam campaigns : the 40-mission Yankee Station 1964.
May 04, 2018, with the advent of the USNRaptor Playset, Yankee Station 1964 was upgraded and converted to run on the Playset. The campaigns received a few more upgrades over the next several years as the Playset was updated.
November 02, 2018, published the second of the Vietnam campaigns : the 25-mission Yankee Station 1972.
March 03, 2020, to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the Rolling Thunder campaign, I published the third Vietnam campaign, a 40-mission campaign spanning the entire historical period of Rolling Thunder.
May 09, 2021, to commemorate the 49th anniversary of the Linebacker campaign, I published the fourth (final) Vietnam campaign, a 25-mission campaign spanning the entire historical period of Linebacker I & II, the end of the Vietnam conflict, and the homecoming of POWs.
June, 2024, with the Playset breaching the Fighters Anthology 'total file limit', it was decided to convert all campaigns to stand-alone projects. The Vietnam campaign conversion began July 5, 2025.
August 02, 2025, on the 61st anniversary of the Tonkin Gulf Incident, the Vietnam Campaign Set is published as a stand-alone project, along with this website.
