Teachers Association Scholarship Application Directions
Eligibility
- The Merrill Teachers Association offers two scholarships per year to students enrolled in an accredited college, or
university (undergrad or grad students).
- Applicants
must be a son, daughter, or stepchild of a current MTA member who has taught in the Merrill Public Schools
for at least 3 years. (Or) A son, daughter or stepchild of a retired educator
whose last 3 years of teaching were spent in the Merrill Public Schools.
- The applicant must submit proof that he or she has been accepted into the school of education, or some other school/department
that will result in the applicant obtaining an initial license to teach.
- An official transcript should also be included with the application, or mailed directly from the university.
- Priority will be given to Merrill High
School graduates; however, graduates from other high schools will be considered.
- Previous
recipients of MTA Scholarships are not eligible for additional scholarships.
Scholarship Specifics
- Scholarship recipients will receive $1500 each semester for a maximum of 5 semesters.
A grade/continued eligibility report must be sent to the MTA Public Relations Chairperson at the end of each semester.
- The
scholarship will cease if any one of the following are true:
¨ The
recipient has graduated
¨ The
recipient has already received 5 payments, or a maximum of $7,500
¨ The
recipient changes his/her major and is no longer interested in teaching
¨ The
recipient drops out of school, or becomes ineligible
