Greetings to all:

News:

Stay up to date with whats happening with NBHA IL 04 on Facebook.  Any new changes that may occur will be listed on the IL 04 website and on the facebook page.  You may want to check them in-between the newsletters.

With this newsletter you will be receiving the showbill for the Wenona Days Barrel race held at Wenona, and the Winnebago Co fair show held at Pecatonica.

Next month’s shows include the 2 day Labor Day show on Sept 3 & 4 at Circle G and for those wanting to go over early on Friday there will be a dj with karaoke.  They will have maid rites and chips for supper for $3.  New to the show schedule will be the show held at Loud Thunder on Monday, Sept 5 put on by Summer Northcutt and Epperly's State Farm Insurance.  The Green River Saddle Club in Amboy will have a 2 day show on Sept 10 & 11 and don’t forget the IL NBHA state show on Sept 16-18.

The IL NBHA state show information should to you by now.  If you did not receive the state show information, newsletter, sponsor form and entry form go to www.mcdiamond.com.  Go to the IL NBHA and you will be able to read and print off the information.

Raffle tickets are selling quickly.  2 chances for $10 to win a completely free entry/stall/processing fee entry at the 2011 NBHA IL state show held Sept 16-18.  If you are planning to show at the state show this year you will want to get in on this raffle drawing.  The drawing will be held at the Wenona Days show and you need not be present to win.  Money raised from this raffle will go towards sponsoring a saddle from our district for an IL 04 member to win.  If you won’t be to this show and need tickets just let me know before Aug 13.

Featured this month is the business card from Denim and Leather Unlimited – yes all Vicky Nutter creations.  Unique accent pillows for every occasion – and great gifts for every horse person and barrel racer.

My IL 04 website will be “upgraded” as of August 15 –from yet another change by Frontier.  I will send out an e-mail to let you know if any name change occurs or if I will have to quit using this freebie site.

The 2 day show held at Ft Madison had great July weather and with Ron Stevenson doing the ground, had great arena footing.  At the Sunday show, Bill Johnson won the open and Vicky Nutter won the senior class.  Thanks to all who helped set barrels during this show.  The Ft Madison show will be held again the same time next year but hoping to get the Missouri NBHA district involved also - that will make it a tri-state show at a tri state arena.  Should be good if it all works out.  Thanks to all who helped set barrels at this show - couldn't have made it work as well as it did without your help.

If you have any jeans you would like to donate please bring them to any show.    Any shape any color will work.

District 04 member highlights for August 2011:

Brandy Wollitz

Brandy started riding horses when she was 4 years old and her family had horses so she grew up with them.  Her first pony was named Candyman and he had been used for barrels so Brandy started her barrel career with him.  She lived in Florida as a child but moved to Illinois when she was 15 and since moving hasn’t barrel raced till last year when she bought her 8 year old gray AQHA gelding named Getyergoat, aka Goat.  Brandy had to learn a lot from Goat because barrel racing has changed over the years, and Goat has been a good teacher.  Since then Brandy has bought two other horses, a 5 year old AQHA mare named Spiders Angel Oak and a 3 year old AQHA mare named BA Perks Playboy to start on barrels.  Brandy has two goals set – one is to make it to the NBHA World Show and win a buckle or a saddle, and the other is to someday run at the NFR.  With hard work and heart she feels she can make it possible and make these dreams come true.  Brandy has had lots of practice and advise from fellow barrel racers and hopes to achieve these goals.  Brandy has been in the automotive repair business for 10 years and the home health care for 9 years.  She enjoys hunting, drag racing and riding her chopper but feels barrel racing is a dream come true.  She credits family and friends that have made it possible and a great support team behind her and says “thanks for letting me chase my dreams”.  Brandy lives in Cherry Valley.

Names in the news:

Molly Johnson brought home a check from the 2011 NBHA Youth World show finishing 3rd in the 2D in the first go.

Chuck Springer and Danny Griffith got in the money at the World Flag/Barrel Race in Milan TN.

Congratulations to Tina Parratore and Dylan Hayes as they will be getting married on October 8.

Angela Jacobs and Linnea Person were involved in  horse accidents and are re-couping nicely.  They both want to say a big thank you to anyone that was involved in helping them.

With major regret to have to write this –Bill Johnson lost Boogie for Money at the end of July.  At the last IL 04 sanctioned show, Bill placed Boogie first in Open 1-D with the only 17.6 time of the day to outclock 92 other riders.
