On November 29, 1925 a group met at Junaluska to organize church.
The Presbytery met to organize a church with Brothers Thomas Truett, J.G. Hogan, James Phillips
and Algia West. Bro. Truett , the chairman, delivered the sermon. The members were questioned and found to be firm

On motion the church was named Lower Junaluska Baptist Church. This was the beginninbg
of what was later named Valleytown Baptist Church. The first church was a two room school house which would open up
to one big room. This served as the church until 1936. Then the church relocated to property given by Mrs. Mack
Cooper. This church building was referred to as the white church.
On July 3, 1955 the church bought land from Mr. Wilburn Ivester to build a church. On
January 7, 1956 the old white church was sold by sealed bids. Emo Mathis bought it and it continued to be used for meetings
until the new church was completed.

sermon after they had an alter of prayer led by Aline Waldroup.
The note on the church was burned on January 7, 1960.

In April 2001 a proporal was voted on to expand the church sanctuary and classrooms.
