Fall Is In The Air and I'm Pretty Happy!
What started out as a cool rainy summer turned into a beautiful summer with lots of people and activities.  Historical Week-End had perfect weather and the best attractions we've had. The PIB Arts Council hosted a reception on Fri Sept. 5 for Charles Herndon of Kelley's Island.  His web site is www.charlesherndon.com. He is a sculptor who uses indiginous rock. Beautiful. Also at the reception was Scott LoBaido of New York City.  Scott painted an American flag on one rooftop in each state and Ohio's rooftop is here at Put-in-Bay. Last week-end he had a gallery showing at the Doller House and then painted an American flag on an 8'x4' board in 8 minutes to the song "Freebird". His web site is www.scottlobaido.com.

SUMMER IS HERE FOR SURE

With the 90 degree heat it's a sure sign summer is upon us.  We are in the throes of planning for nature camp and head to Middle Bass in a couple weeks.  Graduation is tonight and the round of summer social engagements are filling the calendar.

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas....
Oh my Heavens do we have snow and it's just plain gorgeous here! Today is the Christmas Bird Count and it had to be postponed until tomorrow.  No self-respecting bird would be caught out today!  I have been working on the computer and now have a myspace page.  Check it out if you like.  You can search it by my name or PIB Lady.  Stay warm and have a great holiday season.

SPIDER BIOLOGY at OSU
Last week I took a Spider biology class at OSU Stone Lab on Gibraltar Island.  We spent seven whole days learning the ins and outs of Ohio spiders from OSU's spider guru Dr. Rich Bradley. We hunted spiders during the day and late at night.  We looked at them under the microscope and learned to identify them to their family name.  Very intense, very advanced and very fascinating.  Check out My Favorite Links for Dr. Bradley's web site.  He is amazing!

"The Actor's Nightmare"

One of my driving passions is community theatre. Note the cast on my leg.  I broke it the night of dress rehearsal, but still made every performance with a little help from my friends.

VIew From The Porch

What's New?  Alan is now stationed at Fort Leavenworth Kansas and is the assistant to General Caldwell.  Last week he was the personal escort for Colin Powell during his tour of the fort..   Candy is working for the Marion court system and spending time at home with her husband and baby girl. Tom is on the road with the Washington Nationals. He and wife Laura have a daughter and are expecting another child in October.  I am sewing matching outfits for the two girls and trying to get a quilt finished for Quinn now that she is in a big girl bed.

BRUTUS AND ME
DSCN0686.JPG

This photo was taken at a program given by LEIC-BSC for a boyscout troop in Shelby, Ohio.  Brutus is one of the teaching snakes kept by Kristin Stanford of Dirty Jobs fame.  Brutus lost his tail in a chainsaw accident many years ago and cannot be released back into the wild.  He has gone to countless shows and been held by all age groups because of his gentle nature.

Check out the photo album. I just added pictures 7-03-07
