Tube Bending Basics

The following files are scanned from the booklet "Principles of Tube Line Fabrication" Bulletin 4306-B5, October 1977, by the Parker Hannifin Corp.

There are two versions of PDF files here for your choice of printout; the First and Second Sets will print double sided pages that make up a booklet sized 5 1/2" X 8 1/2". The Single Page Set will print separate pages that can be printed singly on 8 1/2" sheets for putting into a loose leaf notebook.

Printing double sided booklet:

The booklet is printed on 8 1/2 X 11 sheets and then folded in half which makes the finished booklet 5 1/2 X 8 1/2. If you have heavier paper on hand it will give better results, as the lighter paper lets the printing on the reverse side show through. To print the booklet, print the first set of pages in this order: NOTE: To avoid frustration I would recommend printing one sheet at a time rather than letting Adobe print all three sheets at once unless you're sure in what order your computer will print.

First Set:

Now take the sheets just printed and turn them over in a group. Keep the pages pointing in the same direction as they were when fed into the printer. The "Cover" should be on the bottom with pg2_9 next followed by pg4_7 on the top. The blank sides should be facing up.Now print the second set of pages in this order:

Second Set:

The pages of the booklet should now be in the correct order and the sheets are now folded in the center and stapled. To staple the the sheets lay them on a piece of foam, several sheets of cardboard or similar and staple through the center with your stapler opened up flat. Then bend over the ends of the staples.

First Set: PDF file aprox. 108K bytes.

Second Set: PDF file approx 155K bytes.

Printing Single Sheets:

To print the individual sheets open the Single Page Set below. If you click on "Expand all pages to paper size" and you have 8 1/2 X 11 selected for your printer, the pages will be expanded to fit.

Single Page Set: PDF file approx 270K bytes.
