Notes: BIOGRAPHY: Alexander Morrison Hersman farmed Sugar Run, a branch of Spring Creek over the hil l south from Missouri Fork, at Speed, until his first wife, Elizabeth Ann Stalnaker, died. H e then moved to his father's farm, called Limberlost, on Missouri Fork and married Allie Rowe . The girls were 'farmed out' to relatives (Maud to her Aunt Mag, Margaret Ann (Hersman) Camp , who had 10 sons and no daughters, on their Missouri Fork farm; Alice to her Aunt Lizzie, Ma ry Elizabeth (Hersman) Davis.) He served as M. P. minister at Hebron Church, and four terms i n the West Virginia House of Delegates (1915-1931).
BIOGRAPHY: HERSMAN, ALEXANDER MORRISON. (Republican.) Address: Spencer, West Va. One of the r epresentatives from Roane. Born in that county August 22, 1858; educated in public schools o f Spencer and Burnsville, Braxton county, where he lived for three years; returned from ther e to Roane where he has engaged in farming and stock raising, near Spencer; served eight year s on the district school board; was never a candidate for a political office until 1914, whe n he was elected to the Legislature; re-elected in 1916; in the sessions of 1917 served on th e House standing committees on Elections and Privileges, Printing and Contingent Expenses, Im migration and Agriculture.
