Welcome !
Casses Home for the Gracefully Aging
Year's End, 2015

We're gonna recap the year a bit. Seems appropriate for the last blog of the current solar circuit. There's a bunch of things I'm terribly grateful for along with surviving one more pass around the sun. And I hear gratitude is the best state of mind for your health.

I'm kind of a spiritual seeker. Who ain't? - it IS the great mystery which ironically, can't be avoided and can't be "solved" but the more you look into it, the more you find out about how to maybe live better - Anyhow I think that's my direction.

Eckard Tolle has been a main source since 2013. In 2015 a very beautiful friend who knew I was "into this stuff" gave me an audio dub of his Seminar in Findhorn Scotland.

Pretty much the same material as his book "A New Earth' but much more digestible since it was delivered to a live audience. Its engendered a major step up and I think the material has helped improve my day to day. (I'll arrange copies to any of you who contact me - very emancipating stuff.)

Early in the year I went to a physician recommended by a trusted friend (I'm very much into informational paths) to see about my remaining unrepaired hip. Brought X-Rays and after he looked at them, the first thing the doc asked was 'Can I code'? (do I write software?).

Well, yes. He put me to work converting Excel spreadsheets into audio files which then converted to therapeutic mag pulses on a device he invented and I've been wearing in my pocket for a year. (seems to be working ie. hip is no worse over time)

Akin to alchemy, the coding chore was Way Over My Head, but my #1 son came thru big time and with more than they asked for. I packaged the product & wrote an installer but the project has come into a slowdown.

Tried to get an old, very competent friend in on the project but there is apparently an opposing karmic hand and development has some bumps in the road. I'm keeping track. And my hip is still OK.

SS$ came in this year - I can't believe I'm that old and I'm so very grateful that for the first time ever I don't have to juggle bills.

Even had enough left to buy a new guitar. (no, I don't have enough) This one is a beautiful Canadian Weissenborn (Hawaiian slide guitar w hollow neck - unique sound). If you're interested, the Canadian dollar is way small compared to ours - good deals. twistedwoodguitars.com

It sounds wonderful and every time I sit with it something new comes up. Very interesting stuff and since my Rock & Roll hands are very sore after a job these days, lots more slide stuff is in the future.

I started feeding local deer this year. They are a total delight. Beautiful large critters. All white-tailed (black when it's down - white in flight).

I have two 1 point bucks and 1 3 pointer - they have their mares & fawns. I've seen as many as 10 at once. They really like the fruity smelling "nuggets" I buy. @ $14.00 a week - well worth the joy of watching them feed.

They will gather in a line and every so often look my way - I guess to make sure I stay put in my deck chair. I wave at them and they go back to feeding. Big critter fun.

One surprised me in the fog one morning while I was loading my car's trunk with trash. I turned around and there was a critter bigger than me, looking me in the eye. Glad they're skittish - we both retreated from each other.

She ran & disappeared. I didn't exactly run since I can't but I did my best to vacate quickly.

On that note, my health is good. I have some joint troubles but that's the framework - the organs are good. The large triangle shaped bone right behind my left big toe (Cuneiform is the bone name) has slowly swollen over the years.

I think it started way back when I was a surfer. One would develop "surfer knots" - calcium buildup on certain foot bones from repeatedly mounting the board.

Anyhow this swelling is a constant low level pain that has changed my gait a bit. Occasionally it flares for a few seconds. That's next on my fix list.

Gastro-Intestinal is good and been behaving since the end of 2013. Very Very grateful for that fact. Know what else? Sight!!

I had a disconcerting episode recently. One evening at home I began to see a sparkly field in the bottom half of my left eye - it slowly became opaque and then brilliantly chrome bright and filled up the lower half like liquid mercury in a fishbowl.

I could only see the top half of the left eye scene - right eye was OK. I went & sat quietly to wait for what's next. Then did some hyperventilating to build up inter ocular pressure.

I half dialed a friend's # thinking that if it went to both eyes - how could I see to dial out for help?

Everything returned to normal but I had quite an unexpected scare. All ok now. I spent several days being particularly grateful for seeing. Hope it stays. So weird getting old.

Also on the Spirit field, I'm a member at Wayfarer's Unity - a unique chapel on a beautiful creek in Georgia. A fine bunch of fellow seekers - it's a wonderful place. wayfarersunity.org

I'm recently on the music committee (You know when you're talking and they ask for volunteers and everybody else steps back?) and having big fun with it. (whodathunkit?)

Also musical & spiritual to the extreme - I'm still a member of the Ubuntu Singers of the Smoky Mountains. When our director is in town (more than half the year) we meet weekly - it's my other church for sure.

Wonderful loving people and very often that magical harmony occurs where you are spellbound. We just this year recorded a "studio" album. Copies available - contact me.

Still playing Rock & Roll (website link above left). Going strong at least 2 nights a month. The band is sounding good and we're in more demand that we can satisfy but my hands are finally giving out after 50 years of R&R.

I'm sore for at least a day after a job and it's not getting better. Grateful for age and will eventually have to find work-arounds - it's a trip.

Employment is still good. I'm functional & needed (at least it looks that way - they keep me busy). Guess I could look into retirement but why get poor? It's a good-ole-boy job and they may keep me around as long as I want - I've seen guys in their 70's still truckin along here at Macon County - so why not?

I kind of dread retirement anyhow. What am I gonna do? I do so enjoy meeting & helping the people here. If I'm not playing music on my days off, I just hang around the house. If I ever do retire, I'll have to fill my time with something .....

Of course, the very best things in my life - every year - are my friends - Old & New - all of whom I love as much as I can. The people I work with (and not just my department), the entire Ubuntu Choir, kids & blood family (all outa town), my proxy family (all here), special acq's, some delightful new ones, etc....

all fellow breathers

They are what life is all about. Sources and receivers of life's joy - there's nothing better (might be all there is). I have a brand new proxy grandchild - Alora - whom I have yet to meet. Certainly by Christmas. It's all a Wonder !!

Happy Holidays & a Prosperous New Year to All of you!!

XOXO
Chris
