Rare Baxter's Process Print of
Raphael's Cartoon of the "Death Of Ananias".
Here is a rare Baxter's Process print made by Bradshaw and Blacklock of England probably from the Raphael cartoon, "Death of Ananias". This print was mounted on a backerboard, probably in the late 1800's or so, judging by the foxing. The backerboard is torn and ripped, but the print is not. The print appears in fairly nice condition with only a small red mark as if from a red pencil in the upper left corner, and it measures about 5x7 inches. Bradshaw and Blacklock licensed the Baxter's process from Baxter in 1850's or so. These studies were produced soon after as far as we can determine. These are very rare items and were colored by aligning a block for each color used and impressing it over the engraving.
