born September 22, 1910, in Essexville, Michigan, younger fraternal twin to Douglas Elmer Gregg son of: Carl Cressman Gregg (born May 7, 1886, in Columbus, Ohio; died November 27, 1936, in Bay City, Michigan) and Florence Ellen (Plush) Gregg (born May 31, 1886, in Essexville; died September 22, 1948, in Essexville) married Josephine Zbin on December 31, 1935, in Bay City Donald and Josephine had eleven children: Donald, Carolyn, Joan, Douglas, Melvin, Denis, John, Robert, Susanne, Janet, and Gregory worked as a sailor and as a diesel mechanic died February 7, 1980, from cancer at Community Health Partner in Lorain, Ohio buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in Vermilion, Ohio

Dad's parents, Carl Cressman Gregg and Florence Ellen "Flossie" (Plush) Gregg, marry on August 16, 1905, in Bay City and live in Michigan. Dad is the fourth of eleven children born to Carl and Flossie:

• Ivan Carl Gregg -- born August 5, 1906, in Essexville, Michigan. He marries Gertrude M. Pashet in 1928 in Michigan, and they have one son: Karel (born June 1929). Ivan won several military honors including the Good Conduct medal, a presidential citation, and various combat insignia. Uncle Ivan dies April 24, 1945, in Dalhart, Texas.
  
• Ivaline Gregg -- born August 14, 1908, in Michigan. She dies before her second birthday, on November 4, 1909, in Bay City.
  
• Douglas Elmer Gregg -- the older of twins born September 22, 1910, in Essexville. He marries Grace Morton sometime after 1935 in Michigan. They have no children. Uncle Doug dies February 15, 1951, in Bay City.
  
• Donald Cecil Gregg "Dad" -- the younger of twins born September 22, 1910. Dad marries Josephine Zbin "Mom" on December 31, 1935, in Bay City. They have eleven children. Dad dies February 7, 1980, from cancer at Community Health Partner in Lorain, Ohio.
  
• Harry Cressman Gregg -- born December 21, 1911, in Essexville. He marries Eveline Alice "Evelyn" Iiams between 1936-1938 in Michigan. They have two children: Harry Jr. (born January 18, 1945; dies May 2, 2001) and Allan (born January 5, 1949; dies November 5, 1986). Uncle Harry dies November 11, 1963, while at sea on Lake Huron.
  
• Daisy Gregg -- the older of twins born March 20, 1913, in Michigan. She dies in eleven days on March 31, 1913, in Bay City.
  
• Dale Gregg -- the younger of twins born March 20, 1913, in Michigan. He dies at one month old on April 27, 1913, in Bay City.
  
• Adele Laura Gregg -- born April 24, 1914, in Essexville. She marries Amber C. Parmenter around 1937 in Michigan. They have two children: Nina (born April 23, 1937; dies June 15, 1988) and Carla (born December 1939). Adele and Amber divorce around 1963. Adele then marries Benedict Nizinski. They have no children. Aunt Adele dies July 1, 1993, from emphysema in Bay City.
  
• Zona Irene "Toni" Gregg -- born December 25, 1916, in Essexville. She marries Charles Carney Lapinsky on October 22, 1940, in Saginaw, Michigan, and they have one daughter, ZoAnn (born April 1, 1952). Aunt Zona dies November 28, 1983, at home in Bridgeport, Michigan.
  
• Norma Ruth Gregg -- born April 14, 1919, in Essexville. She marries Mead William Hemenway in 1937 or 1938 in Michigan. They have three children: Mead (born September 25, 1938; dies August 8, 1980), Neal (born 1939), and Lynda (born January 9, 1942). Aunt Norma dies August 10, 1984, in Pasco, Florida.
  
• Ruby Elaine Gregg -- born September 1921 in Essexville. She marries Glenn Ernest Tripp on August 17, 1945, in Washington, D.C. They have two children: Glenn (born 1947) and Randall (born 1950). Aunt Ruby still lives in Michigan.
  

In 1910 the family lives on Ames Street in Essexville. Carl is employed as a coal miner.

In 1920 the family lives on Mercer Street in Essexville. Carl is now a house painter.

By 1930 the family has moved to Taylor Street in Bay City. All of the children have been born and the oldest, Ivan, has moved out. Their other sons are working--Doug is a laborer, Don and Harry are sailors.

Carl (Grandpa Gregg) dies November 27, 1936, in an automobile accident in Bay City. Grandpa is buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Bay City. Flossie (Grandma Gregg) dies September 22, 1948, at home in Essexville. Grandma is buried in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Bay City.

Dad dies February 7, 1980, from cancer at Community Health Partner in Lorain, Ohio. He is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in Vermilion, Ohio.
