The purposes of this organization are to:
1. Educate its members as to heritage, origins, and achievements of
the Hoornstra family.
2. Study the changes in the lives of those in the family due to the political, social, and economic
changes in European and American history.
3. Make a genealogical investigation of the family so that all members can
be enriched by a better understanding of the dimensions of our heritage.
ACTIVITES
The primary social
activity of the Society is the annual family reunion that is held in Michigan in July. Occasionally cousins from Holland attend
reunions; at least two American family tours to the Netherlands have been conducted. A continual effort is made to update
the family album with births, deaths, marriages, new chlidren, etc.
During the past few years Society officers (assisted
by numerous cousins) have updated the family booklet originally published in 1973 by Lawrence Hoornstra. The new edition was
delivered to members July 2007.
STRUCTURE
The Society is divided into three categories: Officers, Directors,
Members
