One of the best kept secrets of Mineral county, the North Branch of the Potomac at Barnum
  When the Army Corp of Engineers created Jennings Randolph Lake, they created one of the best trout rivers of West Virginia. The trout  live and  reproduct in this frigid water, a very special river to grow big brown trout. The Maryland state record brown trout was caught in this river...
 Come fish this wonderful river and experience the fishing trip of a life time.

 A great get away for the hot steamy days of summer.
Barnum has a lot of catch and release area, you can keep up to five fish a day at Blue Hole

Their are a lot of interesting activites in Mineral Co., from tennis, golf, Jennings Randolph Lake for fishing and boating, and the tail waters are great trout fishing..

Two popular fishing area of Mineral Co.
Barnum is great all year round, but New Creek is for Winter and Spring fishing. The water in the summer is low and to warm to support trout, some do survive through the summer until the following year..

 As spring moves along and summer comes I will update on fishing experiences in Barnum and activies at Jennings Randolph Lake.

New Creek in located outside of the small communtiy of Keyser.
   The creek is stocked with trout from January to the first week of June. The creek runs a total of nine miles with easy access to the water.
New Creek is  a popular fishing area for a lot of trout fisherman in this area because of the easy access to the water.
  Fisherman from Pennsylvania and Maryland come to West Virginia just to fish this small easy access creek
