Quite honestly, superninja has taken more crap about
being a Bruce/Diana 'shipper than probably anyone else. On the frontlines of
the DC Message Board battlefield (even in the
trenches of the Batboards!) she defended her position, outlined her reasons,
used logic and examples from the comics in a very convincing, rational
manner; during all of that, she also wrote fanfiction. Very good fanfiction. Her profile at ff.net lists
her entire backlist, but here are a few of my favorites: Catfight: superninja describes this as a
"lame excuse to get Batman and Wonder Woman to flirt"—I wish
every 'lame' fanfic was as good as this. Not only does this fic have some
great one-liners, it is all around fun and pure 'shippy goodness. Diana here
is playful but not silly, Batman is…well, Batman. Rated PG. A Change of Heart: A JL Animated fic. Wonder Woman

A Day or Two in the
Life of Trinity Continued: I just don't know what to say about
this fic—so much of it influenced my own writing (see Chapter 4 of
IDL—I should have given a credit to superninja especially in that
section) that I don't even know where to begin thanking her. superninja
manages to say so much in this fic, while still managing to almost understate
everything – subtle, yet powerful. I love it. Rated PG. Tomorrow is Another Day: Batman vs. Etrigan, with Diana
caught in the middle. superninja creates a story in which Batman must make a
choice, but his choice has devastating results for the DCU. I love this story
partially because it looks at the DCU without a Batman instead of the usual
'What if…no Superman?' – it very nicely shows the effect, and the
importance, of Batman in this universe – and particularly on Diana
should he never have existed. The other reason I love this fic is because it
is so well written, and the ending simply lovely. Rated PG-13. The Tournament of Men: Hands down one of my favorite
all-time fics, and it's not even finished. An Elseworlds tale set in a Robin
Hood-era, superninja manages to create a world that is wholly familiar to
us—her characters are easily recognizable—but at the same time
completely re-imagined. There are scenes in this fic, not just between Bruce
and Diana but also many other characters, that I wish over and over again
that I had written. Hopefully, she'll continue this at some point, but even
if she doesn't, it is worth reading. Rated PG. …this doesn't even begin to touch the amount of
really wonderful stories in her backlist. Her Mercy series, The Icarus
Files, Happiness Is A Choice, Cold…they are all wonderful reads, and highly recommended. And this list doesn't include the other fics she's
written, particularly the Star Wars
fics. She's prolific, she's brilliant – a great combination in any
writer. *** And, just for fun, I've lifted a quote by superninja
from the DC Message Boards, re: Things Batman and Wonder Woman have in
common, and why a pairing between them is interesting (used without
permission, because I didn't ask). This is in response to other posters'
negative comments about the pairing, and Wonder Woman's character in general: "Bruce and Diana are both "royalty". Diana is obvious, but Bruce Wayne is member of elite society and like Diana, he benefits from the station he was born into. Not only does he use his wealth and power to hide his secret identity, but, like Diana he uses it for humanitarian causes and charity organizations. I think their wealth certainly doesn't define either character, but they both use their wealth with a humanitarian cause in mind.
Likewise, their upbringings are similar. Both are incredibly disciplined and have trained since they were very young to succeed in their respective missions. Bruce because he's haunted by the death of his parents, Diana to spread Amazonian ideas of peace to Man's World. They had to be the best, or they wouldn't have made it – they wouldn't be Batman and Wonder Woman. Bruce's self-imposed training is not unlike Diana facing the trials for the right to be the emissary.
Their missions are pretty much the same, even down to their charity. Bruce wants to save Wonder Woman wants to save the world. They just take different approaches to the same ideological end.
Wonder Woman the "uber-witch", as some like to think of her, is exactly like the "uber-a$$hole" Batman. I call foul for a double standard. They're both incredibly stubborn characters who think their way is the right way. (Not exactly helping out my argument here, but they are similar in that respect.) :) It doesn't make either of them right or wrong, it just makes them both equally stubborn and passionate about their missions.
They've both thrown themselves into their respective missions, and neither have much of a personal life. Relationships get started and then fizzle.
The main differences: Bruce is human. Wonder Woman is a creature of magic. Bruce has a dual identity. Diana doesn't. Bruce won't kill, Diana will, as a last and final resort. But before you get going on that one, Talia has killed and while Selina hasn't she has been incredibly vicious and violent at times.
I agree with Herald in that WW is written badly. Horribly, in fact. In terms of relationships, though, they have tried too hard to give her a criminal, a
That's why I like the idea of Bruce and Diana dating. It's a relationship of equals. No offense to the Catwoman and Talia fans, but aren't you tired of seeing these women throw themselves at the guy? Apart from being beautiful, what could they possibly add to the character? Undying love until they revert to their criminal origins? Or worse, they end up in the fridge? It's a dead end."
I couldn't have said it better myself. If Adrian Tullberg is my fanfic god, and Artemis is my twin – then superninja is my hero.
