KEHRLE FAMILY HISTORY

INCL. THE RETTICH FAMILY

My first KEHRLE is Joseph KEHRLE.He came to America around 1856 with his wife Josephine RETTICH.I now have a picture of Josephine. According to some family records that I found years ago, they had a daughter in Germany that died as an infant.I don't know where Joseph was from, but I do know that Josephine was from a village called Kirchbierlingen, which is near Ulm in southern Wurttemburg. Her father and at least 2 brothers immigrated to America as well. They settled in the Miamisburg and Germantown areas of Montgomery Co,Ohio.Although they were Catholic it seems the brothers became Lutheran.Joseph KEHRLE was killed when hit by a train in Miamisburg while pulling a wagon across the tracks.A grandson, not sure which one, jumped off in time to escape injury.

I have information on the RETTICH family in Kirchbierlingen going back to just before 1800.I found this information on microfilm from the LDS church of parish records. The two brothers mentioned above are both buried in Germantown,Ohio, and there are still descendents living there, although I've yet to communicate with them.

The farm of Joseph KEHRLE was located where the present Miamisburg High School currently stands. The farmhouse is located to the west of the high school by the creek. My great-granfather Adam KEHRLE,son of Joseph, farmed it after the death of his father.I am not to sure who got it in later years.Adams' widow,Hannah GEBHART, lived there for a number of years.I don't have much on Adams siblings and their descendents, except for what I have found from obituaries.I do have a picture of Hannah Gebhart Kehrle.

There were other Kehrle people that immigrated to America.I am not sure if they are related. Some families setted in the New York/New Jersey area in the late 1800's,with descendents in northern Ohio and elsewhere. There also have been some Kehrle families leaving germany after WW2,settling in America and Brazil in South America.
