The JONES & TROUT families settled in Starr Twp of Hocking County in the 1830's.The heads of each family,Samuel JONES and Paul TROUT,sired 13 and 10 children respectfully.Unfortunatly,other then Charlenes' line,I have not had much success in finding other descendents.The land that Samuel Jones had has been strip-mined,so nothing remains from that time.The land of Paul TROUT contains an old house which very much might have been his.
Samuel Jones was born in Pennsylvania,not exactly sure when he came to Ohio,but it was before 1831,which was when he married to Sarah WOOLF.I have no records on her parents.The dates I got for them came from their tombstones,which I copied back in the mid-1980's.It seems after the death of Samuel,his will was contested by some of his children.A son,William JONES,married Margaret TROUT,daughter of the above mentioned Paul TROUT.
Casper Trout was born in Rockingham County,Virginia and migrated to Morgan Co,Ohio before 1820.He died in 1837/38 and was buried at the Jerusalem Lutheran cemetery in Deavertown,Ohio.His marker is unreadable,but his wife's,Mary Anne,is and is next to his.
They had a large famly,at this time I have figured out there were possibly nine children.The confusion comes in as there was also another Trout,a George Trout,that settled nearby in Perry Co,Ohio,he was however from Pennsylvania.If there's a connection,which is possible,I have yet to find it.We are interested in Paul TROUT,possibly the oldest son of Casper & Mary Anne
Paul TROUT came from Rockingham County with his parents before 1820.He first lived in Morgan County,Ohio,where he married Mary Atkins.I have no information on her parents,although I do have some suspects.They lived in Morgan County until they moved to Hocking county in about 1837.Paul had some brothers and sisters that continued to stay in Morgan and Perry counties.There was also a sister that married and migrated west to Iowa.
William JONES and Margaret TROUT also had a large family,ten children according to census records,but I have not been able to find any further information on them.Their daughter,Althamelinda JONES,married Arthur WOODARD
