Statewide Starz Competitions

Wow!  The theme for this compeition was going out with a bang, since this was our last competition scheduled for this year.....Well the teams took it litterally!  It was a little hectic since all of our dances were scheduled so close together, but we managed our nerves well and knocked everyones socks off with our high energy routines!
The junior tap was the first to perform. I'm gonna miss this dance because that sugar step in the beginning makes me laugh with all the sass they throw into it.  They received their very first Platinum!!  They also won 1st in their category and was high point runner-up in the overall junior small group division!  Way to go girls!
The Senior tap was next in line and of course blew everyone away with their extensive tapping skills!  They won Platinum! They also won their category and was junior small group high point winner!!!
Senior hip hop went next...well we hip hop and we hip hop well!  They won Platinum, won their category and also was high point winner in the senior large group division!
Junior jazz danced so well...you guys have come so far since last year!  They won Gold and placed second in their category.  They were not too far from platinum and that is just so incredible...
We added a new dance to this compeition.  We called it Mean Girls and will be performed at this years recital.  Hana Conway, Nicole Compty, Jill Snyder, April Stamness, and Jessica Stamness performed.  It was our first time performing this piece to anyone!  Nerves were high but we got a very good reception afterwards.  To all of our suprise...we won Platinum and also won our category!
All I can say is Bang! Bang! Bang! I received so many compliments for you guys and you should feel so proud of all that you accomplished this year!  I hope you had as much fun as I did...

We Won Finally!!

Were Back From Chicago!

Oh what a weekend!  This is everyone's favorite event of the year and boy was it memorable this year!  As usual we loaded our Badger bus early Friday morning for our long treck towards the windy city.  This year was smooth sailing...No snow!  Apparently we left the weather behind!  The bus ride was full of excitement as we watched old recital videos that showed just how far all of these girls have come!  It's amazing to me!
Saturday morning started with the faculty warm-up and introduction.  Of course we all screamed loudest for Barry our superman!  But we also have to show love for Gregg, the spunky tap master!!  Then we break up and go to our seperate classes for a full day of intense learning.  I was able to sneak away and check out the girls in class and to my surprise...Little Morgan Johnson was pulled on stage to help demonstrate in Barry's hip hop class!  I've never seen her dance like that...go Morgie!  I also learned that Sydney Clarson had been on stage in the class prior which is a Lyrical class...she doesn't even take ballet...now that's talent!!  We've been attending this convention for almost 5 years now and we've only had one student up on stage..and then two in one weekend!! I'm sooo proud!
After classes are over, we scramble to the elevators to start getting ready for the big competition.  Parents helped this year which made things move faster...which was good since we were being rushed by the runners.  Oh well!  Jr. Tap was the first to go and what a statement they made!  They set the standard for the rest of the teams...High energy and mad tapping...The crowd loved them!  The Jr. Jazz was next up and after tears of nerves which made my stomach do flip flops they took the stage.  These girls looked great!  I've never seen them do perfect double pirouettes until that moment!  They performed beautifully and congrats to those girls who had never been on the competition stage before!  Senior Tap was next and after only running through it once, I have to admit, i was more nervous than the team!  But they had a flawless performance!  They crowd loved them....especially the chair tapping...and so did Gregg!  At last, a perfect routine!  Then Hip Hop performed and everyone knows the conditions this dance had gone through.  I held my breath through the whole dance...4 minutes...try it sometime...It was amazing!  Every lift happend effortlessly,  the supermans flew like never before, the scarf section went off without disaster, and Where's Your Head At had the crowd cheering louder than I ever heard for other hip hop routines.
SO now for the award break down...Jr. Tap got a gold (2 points from platinum)  which is the highest a Jr. team has gotten in Chicago!  The Jr. jazz got a high silver which is great! We had new people that have never competed before and there was alot of tough steps this year!  I'm proud of you Juniors!! You really stepped it up this year with the faces and attitude!!  The senior tap team took gold and was only 1 point away from platinum.  We were praised up and down for original choreography and doing something out of the box...Apparently everyone looks forward to what we bring year after year!  The senior hip hop also took gold (so close to platinum)  BUT we also won our category with the highest overall score in the senior line division!  We recieved a big foam check good for $200!  We've never won overall in Chicago!!  It was shocking even for the girls who were actually the only team to scream and freak out on stage like they had just won a million dollars!  Who cares!! We're proud of all we do seeing that we're the small town who just beat all the big city kids!!
Congratulations to all teams!  We're really making a name for ourselves and it is all due to hard work and dedication that each of you put in!  You deserve this win more than any other team out there!  Thank you to the parents for making this experience possible!! We appreciate all that you do SIM Booster Moms!!!  Now we just have to show off to RED BULL some more so that we can raise enough cash to go to Florida for Nationals this year!!
