A Brief History of the Band
The earliest stages of The Traveling Deengelburys goes back to Friday, October 23, 1988. Harry and Jason
were in Spanish class and near the end of class their teacher, Mark S, reached behind his desk, pulled out an acoustic
guitar, and performed "Groovy Kind of Love."
Jason and Harry had been experimenting with their own instruments at home, so as Christmas neared they teamed up with
Mark S and learned a few Christmas songs. On Wednesday, December 21, 1988, in the Spanish room, the trio performed five
songs (one of them was "Groovy Kind of Love") for what seemed like half the school. Their Christmas Concert was a success.

In January of 1989, Darrin started taking his saxophone to Harry and Jason's jam sessions. When
a fund-raiser school dance was announced by the FCA, the band got back together. This time it included Darrin.
They also recruited Mark A to play lead guitar, Brad and Shawn to play drums, and Jay S to sing. They were now an eight-piece 50's
& 60's band!
The band needed a name. Many members of the band were listening to The Traveling Wilburys music at the time,
so they altered that name a bit and came up with The Traveling Deengelburys (aka The Brothers D). And the name of their
1989 "tour" was the Lost in Time World Tour.
The band held four rehearsals at Darrin's house, had a rehearsal at the school the night before the dance, performed
two songs during the lunch hour on the day of the dance, had a final rehearsal between the end of school and the dance, and
then performed around 9pm at the dance. The school was not used to having "live" music at a dance. The Deengelburys
were a big hit!
And that was the last time they played together. A few of the band members wanted to get back together in 1999
for a ten-year reunion jam but it did not happen.
The Traveling Deengelburys truly enjoyed their fifteen minutes of fame.
