All our family are proud to be a part of AFS.

We are located in a new building, just off Skyland Drive in Sylva, NC. We have rocking chairs on our front porch, and just inside is a large lobby with a gas fireplace and chairs for intimate family gatherings. We have large open rooms, with frequent conversation areas for friends to congregate. Our rooms and lobbies are decorated with local art. Our large chapel has two beautiful, specially commissioned stained glass windows, one of the sunrise over our mountains and the other of the sunset over the mountains. We feel the two windows represent what our funeral services try to do: celebrate the lives of our clients, from their sunrise until their sunset.

We have two large visitation rooms, which can be opened to make one extra large room. We have a comfortable arrangement room where families can gather to make final arrangements for their loved ones. We have a large selection room, where famillies can choose the personalized materials needed. Our preparation is spacious, with room to work, and also for families to pay last visits, if needed. Our embalming room is modern, spacious, and clean.  We have a large, in-house crematory, with cooler space when needed. Becasue we have an in-house cremation facility, we avoid taking your loved one out of our building for cremation.

We are proud of our spacious restrooms, each with private handicapped facilites and baby changing tables. Each restroom also has two hand turned sinks made specially for us by a local potter, Twin Rivers Pottery, in Dillsboro, NC. These sinks help us to celebrate the wide variety of art available in our area, as well as recognize the beauty of the area we live in.
