Here are some things that on the surface may seem funny or even irritating until you take a little time to think them through. Keep as many as your memory can hold and hold onto them tightly. In times of crisis they will give you some direction as well as encouragement.

The survivor mentality is really quite simple in its purest form - PERSEVERANCE. Now in reality it is much, much more. All the things you now take for granted you will have to learn to do for yourself. Here's the rub, EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US HAS IT IN US TO BE SURVIVORS! So set your mind right here and now to make it through whatever life throws at you. As fragile as you may be, you are still stronger than the worst situation you may ever face.

So if any of this speaks to you and your situation then jot them down and save them for when you need a little encouragement or some idea of how to handle a given situation. Just remember that like knowledge, wisdom is one of those things the more you get - the less you have and the more you use it the stronger it gets.

So that you can now know the whys and wherefores:

But, before we go there something to just think about.

New World Order

There is a group of people… across this planet wide,
with greedy little fingers - and power on their mind,
they do not care ‘bout sovereignty - the one-world is their goal,
Liberty is their enemy… and their deity is Control.
They march across the history books - possess an ageless plan,
leading us toward dependency - to a woman and a man,
their map to domination is as old as time itself,
mixing ancient mysteries with technology off the shelf,
Keeping us in darkness - their faces unrevealed,
the shadows are their foxholes and secrecy is their shield,
they manipulate behind the scenes - relentless without fear,
a crescendo of disparity that builds from year to year.
They provide us our distractions - engulf us day to day,
preparing to enslave us, they slowly wear away
a catalogue of liberties - and while freedoms wane and cease,
they tell us that they’re doing it for security and for peace,
They prey upon our apathy - in a plot you can’t untwist,
policing how you think and feel… they tighten an iron fist,
they terrorize the spirit of hope with fear and guilt and shame
‘til there’s nothing left of who you were but a ghost, a shell, a name.
They rule from modern castles - elitist to the core,
they think of you as mindless stock to serve them evermore,
they’ll take away your firearms so you cannot self-defend,
and tag you with an ID chip… to keep you in your pen.
There is a group of people… across this planet wide,
who are waiting for their moment - and time is on their side,
the New World Order is the dream - and dominion is the gain,
but they cannot reach this final goal… ‘til Liberty has been slain.

--Stone Bryson

I recently had chance to discuss with my son an old proverb that I quoted him. "Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." His question to me was do I actually believe that. I informed him that I emphatically do. I then explained why to him.

The great ills of society are many and most come from things done in the dark of night and during the late hours when most are resting. Resting, I informed him is important to the body. It is the time when our bodies reload their batteries and repair the damages. Those that do not give their bodies time to recharge and repair are slowly bringing long term health issues upon themselves. When you add to that many are involved in less than noble activities such as wine, women, and song you start to see how the dark hours are very hazardous to your health.

Even those who are gainfully employed during the dark hours are not likely to get sufficient enough rest to counter the effects of night work. They definitely don't earn great paychecks because most of those jobs are low paying jobs, 7-ll clerks, security guards, etc.

Lastly, a tired body brings on a tired mind and a tired mind is never as nearly thoughtful as a well rested one. People who work or play all night but do not rest from the day's activities do not think as clearly as they could otherwise. When faced with important decisions, often they take the quick easy way out because they are too tired to be willing to deal with the longer and harder right way.

Now, think about the news. Most shootings, store hold ups, drug deals, prostitution, and other illicit activities appear to happen mostly during the night hours. Ever wonder why? That is because it is harder to see these activities at night. But by the light of day we see more clearly.

Finally, running the streets all night and blowing your money on wine, women, song, and other harmful things keeps you constantly in the poor house. If you are early to bed you see no need to waste hard earned income on such things. Additionally it is the daylight hours to which you find the most gainful employment. If you are gainfully employed and work hard at it two things come to pass. First you are more likely earning a better income and secondly you are too tired at days end to think of blowing it on that night's temporary pleasures. Farming is life and life is farming to which this proverb arises. You reap what you sew. The agrarian societies of old understood this, hence the necessity of the proverb. You want a productive farm (also read life) you must make hay while the sun shines (also read work productively) else you will not have enough to get you through the tough times.

So yes the old proverb is as true today as it ever was and maybe more so. Do not think that many thousands of years of wisdom is useless in today's society. Technology cannot and will never surpass plain old common sense as proper rest will never fall prey to ill health and poor judgment nor lack of necessities gained from saving in the good times.
