James Alexander Chambers [Parents] was born 1 on 28 Mar 1728 in Scotland. He died 2 on 15 Apr 1828 in Owen County, Indiana. James married 2 Nancy Windsor about 1750 in England.

James immigrated 3 about 1743 to America.

James Alexander Chambers son of Reynolds Chambers of Scotland.  Had two brothers Samuel and David.  Reynolds was born about 1700 and stayed in Scotland.  He was a son of Alexander Chambers, who lived in Southern Scotland.

Member of Baptist Church of Jesus Christ in Wilkes Co, NC New River Three Forks Settlement, on roster founding members #17.

Married in England, came to America, settled in Maryland. Mentioned in EARLY TIMES IN MEADE CO, KY pg 32. In census, first settlers lists Ashe Co: ASHE COUNTY, A HISTORY, by Col Arthur Fletcher.

Moved to Jessamine Co, KY abt. 1804, later returned to NC for short time.  Moved to IN in 1818.  Primitive Baptist preacher, m. Nancy Winzor (or Windsor) about 1750 in England, came to Maryland.  May have been member/preacher at Three Forks of New River church organized 1791. (History of NC Baptists, Pascal.) (further info about church relationships, speculation about family.)

"Died at a ripe old age. Regular Baptist preacher 50 years."

Elizabeth was named as a daughter of James in Margaret Ann (Mannon) Chambers family history. She was daughter-in-law of Elijah Chambers (above) and her history and other records are in the Barker Library, Univ. of Texas, Austin, Texas. The history dated Aug 24, 1897 An Elizabeth Chambers m James Eggerton 9/17/1814 and an Elizabeth m Henry Combs 11/14/1805 Wilkes Co. NC.
