Hubert G. Roerig, 81, of Elgin, Died Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Elgin Manor Care Health Services in Elgin. He was born April 29, 1924 in Maple Lake, MN, the son of Henry and Lena (Vanderwald) Roerig.
Hubert was a graduate of Maple Lake High School in Maplelake, MN and attended the University of Minnesota and Loyola University in Chicago.
During World War II, Hubert served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged on January 7, 1946. He was a member of the Elgin Chapter of Knights of Columbus. Hubert was united in marriage to the former Evelyn Chmiel on September 7, 1946 in Chicago. The family lived in Chicago for 10 years. For 15 years they were residents of Papilleon, NE, before moving to Elgin. Mr. Roerig was employed by Parker Seal as a Sales Manager for 18 years. After retirement, Hubert enjoyed his job as a greeter at Walmart in Elgin for 11 years.
Mr. Roerig is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn; his loving children, Gregory M. (Deborah) Roerig and Joanne (John) Schalz, both of Elgin; his dear grandchildren, Jennifer (Glen) Pierce, Christopher Roerig, Jason Schalz and Sara Schalz; two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Gabriella Pierce; two sisters, Theresa (Bill) Minton of Brooklyn Park, MN and Dorothy (John) Moline of St. Cloud, MN; two brothers, Billy Roerig of McGrath, MN and Donald (Tony) Roerig of Minneapolis; his nephew, Robert and Floreen Roerig of Springlake Park, MN; and two nieces, Linda Carlstadt and Judee Geske, both of Minneapolis, MN.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Leonard, John, Henry Jr, Gerald and Louie Roerig; his sisters, Emma Tutenhagen, Marie Carlstadt and Hermina Hickman.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at St. Patrick Crane Road Church, 6N491 Crane Road, St. Charles. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third Street, St. Charles (3 Blks West of the Fox River, 1 Blk. South on 3rd Street from Rt. 64). Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Park in West Dundee.
