John W. Wickens, 92, of 501 Pennsylvania Avenue, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away Friday, April 6, 2007 at 9:25 p.m. in Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth.
He was born on September 25, 1914, in Ellettsville, Indiana, to Raymond and Bonnie
(Sherfield) Wickens. John married Dorothy J. Lucas on June 30, 1934 in Columbus, Indiana. Dorothy preceded him in death on Jaunary 15, 2004. John was a farmer and also worked at Bendix Corporation in the brake divison department. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always looked forward to his birthday party each September when the family would get together. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spent lots of time with his sports buddies. He had lived in Marshall County for the past 60 years.
John is survived by his daughters, Elaine Amor of Cookville, Tennessee and June and Richard Breeding of Plymouth; his sons, Marvin Wickens of Mentone, Indiana and Keith and Sue Wickens of Plymouth; his sister, Elizabeth Hawkins of South Bend, Indiana; 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. H e was preceded in death by his son, James Richard Wickens.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home in Plymouth, with the Rev. Lyle Breeding officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, Indiana.
A time of visiting and sharing memories with the family will be on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 west Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.
