AYER -- Thomas F. Callahan, 76, of 40 Highland Avenue, died Thursday, August 28 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston after a brief illness.
    Mr. Callahan was born in Lowell on August 11, 1932, a son of Thomas L. and Ruth (Evans) Callahan and has resided in Ayer for over 60 years.
    He was a graduate of Ayer High School and Bentley College in Waltham. During the Korean Conflict he served his country as a corporal in the United States Army.
    He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ann (Green) Callahan; five sons, Timothy J. Callahan of Seattle, Washington, John M. Callahan of Larchmont, NY, Thomas L. Callahan, Matthew D. Callahan and Jeremy T. Callahan all of Ayer; three daughters, Nancy C. Kendall of Westford, Ann Marie Sabatino of Shirley and Cheryl L. Walters of Ayer; three brothers, William J. Callahan and Francis P. Callahan, of Ayer, James Callahan of Harwich; and a sister, Mary Guthrie of Ayer. He also leaves 13 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
    Mr. Callahan was a Certified Public Accountant and for 33 years worked at Trio & Glowacki Accountants in Lowell, now of Chelmsford. He also served the town of Ayer for five years as an Assessor and 22 years as the Town Treasurer. His retirement began in 1998.
    He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ayer Council.
    A funeral Mass was celebrated on Sept. 3 at St. Mary s Church, 31 Shirley Street, Ayer. Burial was to be in the parish cemetery.

    Mrs. Ella B. Green, a resident of this town for the past 55 years, died Tuesday, April 1, at her home, 16 Pond street, after a

Deaths:
Mrs. Etta Kimball (Green) Nickerson, wife of Horace E. Nickerson, passed away last Tuesday morning at the Community Memorial Hospital, death being caused by septic poisoning. She was born here May 2, 1903, the daughter of Ella P. and the late Newcomb Green. She was educated in the public schools and graduated from the high school in the class of 1920. She was employed for some time at the railroad station restaurant and also at the Quinny? Lunchroom on Pleasant Street. She married Horace E. Nickerson of this town November 16, 1925, Rev. Earle R. Steeves, pastor of the Federated Church, performing the ceremony.
Mrs. Nickerson was a member of the Federated Church, the Kappa Tau Gamma club and a former member of the Grange. Of a bright and cheerful personality, she had many friends who had known her from childhood. In business she was esteemed by her employers and associates. Her family was dear to her and much sympathy is expressed by the entire community to those in the home circle.
The funeral was held from her mother’s home on Pond Street Thursday afternoon at 3:30, Rev. Earle R. Steeves officiating. Beautiful flowers in abundance were sent by many for the last resting place. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery. The committal service was performed by Mr. Steeves. The bearers were classmates of Mrs. Nickerson as follows: William J. N. Cornellier, Ralph H. Richardson, Herman T. Allen and Frank C. Harmon. Relatives and friends attended the services from Cambridge, Waltham, Dorchester, Reading, Lynn, Fitchburg, Shirley, Roxbury, and Harvard.
Mrs. Nickerson is survived by her husband: two daughters, Jean E. and Etta K. Nickerson: her mother, Mrs. Ella P. Green: one brother, Azel P. Green: two half- brothers, Norman C. Green of Roxbury and Rubert M. Green of Fitchburg and a half-sister, Mrs. John E. Adams of Shirley.

The funeral of Horace Nickerson of Ayer, was held on Friday afternoon, April 27, at 2:30, at the Farmer Funeral Home.
The services were conducted by the Rev. Hugh Penney, D.D. There were many beautiful floral tributes.
Mr. Nickerson, who died suddenly on Wednesday, while at work at Fort Devens, had been in poor health for several years.
He was the husband of the late Etta Green Nickerson and is survived by two daughters, Jean and Etta.
Mr. Nickerson and his daughters had, since the death of his wife, made their home with Mrs. Etta Green, on Pond Street. During the last war Mr. Nickerson had a restaurant on Pleasant Street.
