Allen Lee Ruiter died on 15 Apr 2008.
Allen Lee Ruiter, age 67, of Grand Haven and formerly of Spring Lake passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at a Muskegon hospital. He was born November 18, 1940, in Muskegon to Albert and Margaret (Dood) Ruiter. He married his former wife, Jane M. Sasse, in Sleepy Eye, MN, in 1964.
Mr. Ruiter was a 1959 graduate of Muskegon Heights High School and attended Hope College before graduating from Mankato State College in 1965. He resided in the Tri-Cities area for 32 years. Over the course of his life, Allen worked for the American Medical Association in Chicago, the University of Alabama-Birmingham Medical School Research Lab, A. Ruiter, Ltd. in Spring Lake Township, and Microbionetics of New York. He was a member of the H-Club at Hope College and a long-time member of Christ Community Church in Spring Lake where he previously served as elder, deacon, Eucharistic Minister, and Stephen’s Minister.
Allen is survived by his dear Sarah Jane Essebaggers of Grand Haven; his daughter, Linda (Douglas) Verellen of Traverse City; his son, John (Jennifer) Ruiter of Holland; six grandchildren: Forrest, Maxwell, Olivia, Peter, Luke, and Elizabeth; a brother, William (Kathy) Ruiter of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The service for Allen will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church in Grand Haven with Rev. Thomas Cook and Rev. Richard Rhem presiding. Friends may meet the family 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 18, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Memorial contributions to Hope College are appreciated.
