Marine Parents Reviews
This
book was just what I needed. I am a father who's son is deploying in the next few weeks and this book helped me understand
what it was going to be like through the eyes of a parent. With the combination scripture and life events it has helped me
be at peace with what my son is about to do. The author has brought out the true meaning of love of God, Country
and family. I would recommend when you read this book that you have tissues and a highlighter.

Your story was captivating. With having a son ready to deploy to Iraq in a few weeks, reading your book helped
me to understand I am not alone in all the mixed emotions I am feeling. Your faith and commitment to God, is a encouragement
to me, and your journal showed how each day may be a struggle, but with prayer and friends and family, we can find peace.
Thank you for sharing your story.

Blue Star in my Window by Catherine DePew is an informative, yet inspirational book chock-full of encouragement
and understanding particularly for parents of those in active duty of any military branch. Cathy shares her raw but delicate
feelings about the triumphs, joys, sorrows, fears, heartaches, and trials of releasing one’s child to the armed forces,
to act as surrogate parents for four or five years of their lives. Every parent who reads Blue Star in My Window can
identify with Cathy’s heartfelt words, and find comfort in the Scriptures that she quotes and embraces. I highly recommend
every parent of every child who is considering a career in any of the military branches, to read Cathy’s book and to
share in the tears, laughter, pride, and honor of being a parent of a man or woman in the United States of America armed forces.

Cathy,
Congratulations on your book, Blue Star In
My Window. Oh boy, did it hit home! Is it OK for a Marine Dad to admit that I had the book in one hand and a tissue in the
other? It's a must-read for military families...especially Marine families!
The Boot Camp stories, the deployments, the "see
ya laters" are something we have all experienced. The wonderful memories that re-emerged while reading the book
brought both smiles and tears. Of course they are mostly tears of pride. Carolyn and I counting down the days until we
head the NC, hang our sign at the entrance of Camp Lejeune, and welcome our Marine home from his first
deployment.
So thank you! Thank you for bringing back some great
memories and thank you for reminding us that families are part of the Marine Corps family!
Please give my best to Kenton and thank him
for his service to our county.
