LILLIAN TORRES/BIOGRAPHY

Born in the town of Humacao, the Jewel of the Caribbean on the Eastern shores of Puerto Rico, at age two she was brought to live in GaryIN.  As a child growing up in a mixed community, she was raised to appreciate the significance of her culture.  Then she could see how important it was to live in such a diverse neighborhood and still keep her heritage of her Puerto Rican roots and music.

Raising her two children to be proud and embrace their culture, she realized that there was huge need to maintain that among other Hispanics.  Her strong will to create that dream was what led her to start and promote Hispanic events to help preserve the Latin culture in our lives.  The Post-Tribune called it a "Sense of Heritage," writer Kass Stone wrote up a great story on such. The theme events "NW Indiana's Salsa Revival," "A Tribute to The Legends of Salsa" Noche Caribeña and "A Valentine Day Dance" has managed to attract Hispanics with the same yearnings for more, always showing considerable admiration for all her hard work.  After that she was elected as the Public Relations Officer for (Nacopwr) the National Alliance Conference of Puerto Rican Women Inc. and Community Relations Officer of (HV) Hispanic Voices Ltd. These committees are dedicated to helping Hispanics with all their needs in this growing community. With 20 years of experience in food and beverage, event planning comes natural to her.

Latin Groove Matrix was created to bring back the nostalgic moments of Lillian’s favorite Northwest Indiana Latin Clubs such as "Los Caballeros de San Juan," "La Benefica," "The K of C Hall," "The Spanish Society" and "Los Hijos del Borinquen." Where the best local Latin bands performed and made a name for themselves such as "Las Sombras," "Together" and "Los Humacaeños." Those were the days when the Latin community would gather to show their appreciation of their culture y musica Latina. The Dances would feature Latino Folkloric Dancers to educate us about our culture. The events would attract the young and old with everyone enjoying the moments of true celebration. We grew to embrace our multi-cultural community by featuring variety of music to create diversity. Every community should be aware of their culture so that our children can have an identity and be proud of whom they are.  In the infamous words of the song by Los Angeles Negros "Y Vorveré," meaning I shall return which is our goal.

Her mission is to provide you with "Elegant Events With You in Mind" the dance’s feature the most professional bands to ensure you your time and monies’ worth. Anytime you visit one of her events you will be part of a long going documentary that visualizes the preservation of our Latin culture for future generations. Video's and DVD's of the Events are available for purchase.
