Kirchbierlingen

View as we entered the small village of Kirchbierlingen. This is the village that my Rettich line came from. The village itself is dated as early as 775AD. The weather was partly sunny, and made for a good day of taking pics.

The village catholic church is dedicated to St Martin. This one was built in 1513, with changes taking palce in 1600-14 and 1858-59. The artwork was incredible, and if you would like more pics, let me know. This was one of only two small village churches that we were able to get into during our visit on this trip. Nearby, we visted the village of Grundshiem, which is where Peter's brother lives. There we ate, had some good German beer, and then visited the local church, which is also dedicated to St Martin.

On the way back to Renzen, we stopped and visited with Marcus Kehrle, pictured standing on the right, next to me and my father Raymond Fromholt(on the left). Markus may be a relative, as his Kehrle line is from the area of Kirchbierlingen, where my Rettich ancester, Josephine Rettich, was born, and married somewhere in the area to Joseph Kehrle. It will take time for me to find any record of this Joseph, but I do think that what I have found about Markus's family will help point me towards the right direction.
