Losheim & Niderlosheim

This is what we saw as we entered the small city of Losheim. The community has a substantial size populatin, and is a regional summer recreation area with the lake bearing the same name nearby. It is located in the German state of Saarland, and is quite hilly. The area is known for it's production of coal.

This is the area that my Steffen family, from my mothers side, came from. The church pictureed is Sts Peter & Paul, and was re-constructed after WWII. The previous church was destroyed just before wars end in 1945.

This is what we saw as we entered nearby Niederlosheim. The steeple of St Hubert can be seen. My Steffen line came from these two commnuities, as well as the nearby communitities of Mitlosheim, Bergen, Britten and Greimerth. Unfortunatly, it was getting late, and we were unable to visit these communitites on this trip. We were also unable to visit the interior of these structures. Losheim itself has a history dating back to Roman times. I am not sure if there are Steffen family members still living in this area.
