Putnam Aging Program offers a wide array of services to seniors.  If you do not see a service listed, please give us a call, if we do not offer the service we will find someone that does.

Services that Putnam Aging offers include:

  • Nutritious Meals - Nutrition sites serve a nutritious lunch daily, Monday through Friday, except on State observed holidays or periods of inclement weather. Please call the nutrition site for exact times.
  • Home Delivered Meals (to eligible Seniors)
  • Social Interaction - Great Conversation
  • Exercises
  • Daily Telephoning
  • Guest Speakers
  • Health Screenings - Blood Pressure - Glucose Testing
  • Health Fairs
  • Letter Reading and/or Writing
  • Monthly Parties - Birthday and Holiday
  • Trips and Picnics
  • Computer Classes with Internet Access
  • Family Caregiver Support Program
  • "Going Places" - afterhours trips focusing on social and educational outings 
  • Volunteering with our "Seniors of Service"
  • Medical Transportation

          Senior Employment

Putnam County also offers Senior Employment to mature workers (55+) with a modest income in Boone, Clay, Kanawha and Putnam Counties. Please call the Central Office at 304-755-2385 and ask for the Title V Program for more information, or email by clicking on the link below.

      Home Care Services

Home Care services are provided by Putnam Aging Program in Cabell, Clay, Fayette, Kanawha, Putnam and Roane counties. These services include;

  • Chore
  • In Home Care

     Community Care

     Medicaid Waiver

  • Personal Care

Family Caregiver Support Program
 
     This program focuses on the caregiver that is caring for a family member or loved one.  Caring for a loved one or family member in the last years of life can present mnay challenges as well as opportunities for personal growth and enhanced  relationship.  You will learn ways to make the final years of a loved one's life more comfortable  while finding more meaning in the caregiving experience.
 
This six week program will help you to:
  • cope with changes, losses and life transitions
  • say what is important to friends and family
  • explore the spirituals aspects of caregiving
  • create positive caregiving experiences
  • talk about end of life care and make important decisions
  • know what to expect as caregiving becomes more difficult
  • provide comfort and dignity near life's end
  • plan for your future
