I've been struggling with a statement our Lord made where he says, "..not
everyone who says Lord, Lord will enter the Kingdom of Heaven except those who do the will of my Father." What is the will
of the Father? John 6:40 says "And this is the will of Him
who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes on Him should have everlasting life. And I will raise him up at the
last day." Jesus goes on to add in John 14:15 "..if ye love me, keep my commandments." We know that his commands
are the TEN COMMANDMENTS. He sums them up in Mathew 22:37-40. I guess if we could keep the Ten Commandments
at face value we wouldn't get too far off the mark. But Jesus said our hearts are desperately wicked.
We are like white washed tombs! Clean and pretty on the outside, but like a rotten corpse on the inside!
How well the Lord knows us, yet he still came to die for us! It boggles my mind! I truly do love
the Lord of his love and sacrifice on my behalf. However, I still struggle trying to keep his commandments in my heart.
I find that lust and hate are my constant companions, for you it could be something else. There is nothing worse in
my mind that to keep asking for forgiveness for a reocurring sin.
I sometimes wonder about Christians who kill themselves. Did they struggle the same way
day after day? Not getting any relief from always grieving the Holy Spirit? Finally opting to ask for forgiveness
for everything wiping the slate clean so to speak one final time and then ending your life as to not break anymore commandments
out of your love for the Lord?
We all know a Christian cannot knowingly sin and be happy. We know to come to the Lord
if we do sin and confess it and he will forgive us, but what if we do it again and again and again... Jesus was once
asked how many times should we keep forgiving a person? Jesus said 7 times 70, now I don't think he meant actual
449 times, but I do believe he meant as many times as we are asked for forgiveness we are to give it otherwise we are in danger
of not being forgiven by God in Heaven.
I guess that is why it is called the good fight. We are to work out our salvation with
fear and trembling (Phi 2:12).
