The Following Are Games I Have Played

PLAY STATION 1

Final Fantasy VII

A joy to play from beginning to end; absolutely amazing.

I could tell right at the beginning when the game started, that i was going to have fun playing it.  It grabs you immediately, along with the looks that I had never seen before.  It is easy to give this game a perfect 10 because when I played Final Fantasy VII it was more fun, best looking, and a huge free roaming world, I had ever experience.  I loved all the vehicles that were in the game, along with the music. If you have never played this game, I believe you would have fun just because of the story line along with the superior game play, which is the most important, aspect right!

The game is not hard to figure out in terms of fighting and leveling up so getting right to the game play is what you do. It is near and dear to my heart.

Heart Of Darkness - PS1

Satisfaction level is high if you can do it.

This game can try your patience. If you are good at playing older Mario games, then you will have more than half chance to beat this game.  I found it very hard to say the least. In some levels especially toward the end, I would try a level for a couple of hours and when I would advance, I would quit, and try some weeks later when I mentally wasn’t spent. I could not forget about it; every time I beat a level I would think “maybe I could do the next one.” I could not beat the boss at the end and had to be satisfied with that. Almost at the end of the game, I found a cheat, it is the first time I have used cheating and it helped me mentally to keep trying, and to see the ending.  I wouldn’t use this until you really, really need it, because it would ruin the satisfaction level for you. To see ALL Cinemas and Levels * with the game off hold L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 *on controller 2 * (you must be in the second controller slot) Keep holding those buttons and access the options screen, then the tree house, then load game. You can save and keep your progress after using this.

For all the frustration, I had, I still can say I had a great time playing it.

Alundra I - PS1

A fun game that was hard, but you do feel like you accomplished something.

Finishing Alundra was so hard it wasn't as fun as it could have been. I have never played a game where periodically I would think, "well I guess this is as far as I go" so many times.

The director Yasuhiro Ohhori wanted to make a game you could play, not just have a good story line. He wanted a game that the player felt at the end of it, that they accomplished something. I do feel that, and I had two guides to help me! The puzzles where just too crazy hard, and they could have made the jumping easier.

NINTENDO 64

Paper Mario – N-64

Easy to start and truly fun to play.

This game was fun from beginning to end. I liked the different parts of the world with the different unique challenges to over come. The story line was great along with the way the game looked, and how you could interact with it. Like being able to go wherever you wanted to in doing side quests or your favorite place to level up. I cannot think of a single thing the makers could have done better. Nothing was so hard you needed to have special finger action skills, which for me is a relief. The music and sound in the game was fun as always.  I can’t see anyone not liking this game, really.

Bomberman 64: Second Attack - N-64

Fun enough if you can make it to the save point.

Man, Bomberman Attack just wasn't that fun for me, at the end of the day. You had to finish the entire world before saving. I realized, as I was rather dreading to start it up again, that I just did not have to. I have enough games that if that particular game is not my thing I can just not play it. I love Mario, and Pac-Man along with Bomberman but I have a limit. Sometimes my fingers just cannot move fast enough to stop dieing. So when I started Bomberman Attack I realized early on that I could only go to a certain point without getting any better; that point didn’t have a save area.

I really enjoyed what I could play, so it made me rather sad to have to put it away for good.

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Wow, what a perfect experience this was playing this game.

I cannot think of anything the makers of this game could have done to make it any better.  Playing this was exciting from the beginning to the end. There is a huge world to explore with fun side quests, and many people to talk with. I loved all the different unique areas to explore, and to find out where I could go to next with my new abilities. The game surprised me many times with its fresh new look and being able to do so much, and the puzzles were not so frustrating to loose the fun out of it. This game will always be near and dear to me, I loved playing this game, and it will always be one of my favorite games.

Final Fantasy III – Snes

What an exciting game to play.

When I played Final Fantasy III it was a huge enjoyment for me; so much so that I made a guide for it when I had the time back then. I loved replaying it and going over my saves to glean the information for the guide. I loved everything about it. I had not played Final Fantasy II but I had played Final Fantasy Legends games, so for me the jump was exciting and at times heart pounding. The story and character along with the look was fresh and new for me. Even if you play it now I think, you will enjoy this game. Because of all the things you can do, and how the story unfolds and the wonderful music too. If you have played Secret of Evermore or Illusion of Gaia or Chrono Trigger the look is basically the same. The game is huge with many places to explore with diverse areas and it is so much fun.

I do not think the makers of this game could have done any better so I give it a perfect score.

Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars

Still fun for the most part even now.

I just finished the game and frankly, if I had of died on the last boss I would not have redone it; the fighting was that tedious for me. Let me start out by saying that the music and sound of the game was good; it never got on my nerves. The world was large enough and diverse in its game play and look.  The characters and storyline were never boring with some character popping up when you least expect it. Leveling up didn’t seem like a chore at all. There where a couple side quests I didn’t do like you had a chance to jump for a period of time.  Neither did I fight to beat this guy to the end as another side quest. It did irritate me that I didn’t get the 50 Yoshi coins, only 48 and I almost cared enough to search for more but didn’t with further thought. The game was fun enough but when it came to fighting the bosses and sub-bosses it took too long. Fighting for such a long time just made fighting so repetitive for me. You could only hold a certain amount of items so you would have to think about who, and what items you were going to play with.  I wish I could have been able to switch party members while fighting. So I end up doing pretty much the same thing through-out the fight. Adding all this up and for me, I would get bored and a bit frustrated in the fighting.  I had enough fun to keep playing the game, but with the former issues the game just didn’t do all that it could have. If you don’t care about the possible (in your eyes) petty issues then I would say the game has held the test of time. There are plenty of games even now, on the Gba or DS that look about the same. I will give this a high score for all the positives I have listed. I think I reasonably described my issues with the game so you can judge for yourself if it would or would not be a problem for you.

Super Mario All-Stars

I might not be quick enough to finish the games but it was so much fun anyway.

I have never played any Nes games, so when I played these years ago I couldn’t believe it. The only Mario I had played was when he was in Donkey Kong Land.  I can’t move fast enough to finish each of the games, but I totally enjoyed what I did play; which was most of it. The cartridge has four great games; every one of them is so fun; how can you beat that? The games are timeless in the fun factor and in the look too. I just bought Super Mario Bros 3 on the GBA because I wanted to give it another shot. It was the only one I didn’t go as far as I could before stopping.  I would have given it a perfect score if it weren’t quite so hard. I know there are many people saying what?? But, I bet there are lots of people like me too.

Secret of Evermore - Snes

The game grabs you from the start

If you enjoy Snes style rpg’s then you will love Secret of Evermore. I loved playing the game so much that I made a guide for it. I had way more fun playing this game than Secret of Mana or Chrono Trigger. I think peoples favorites are in the timing of when they played the game; having said this, this game would be fun anytime. I really liked the storyline, and the way it looked, along with one of the best gaming experiences I have ever had. It is a huge world with so much to do and see.

Play this game you will be happy you did.

Illusions of Gaia – Snes

A classic rpg that is pure pleasure.

I had so much fun playing this game. I played this game not to long after I had played Secret of Evermore. I was so glad to have found yet another super fun rpg.

I remember liking the story line, and the game has different and distinct looks in the world.  I liked gathering the information to advance in the game it wasn’t so hard that you would get frustrated to much. Taking a breath and thinking about something would get you past the issue. For that matter, I do not remember the puzzles being to hard or leveling up being difficult. If you have ever played Secret of Evermore, Final Fantasy III or Secret of Mana this game is along those lines. I don’t think it is as large as the previously name games but it is long enough to put a smile on your face.  I am glad I found and played this game it; I even made a guide for it.

Chrono Trigger

I liked the game enough but maybe my timing was off.

I finally played Chrono Trigger last year and it was fun. One thing I am not a fan of is if I do one thing that means I do not get the great armor, weapon etc. I had the guide so I did get a sense of the multiple endings. If you enjoy rpg’s and you like the look of Secret of Evermore (my favorite) or Final Fantasy III then you will like this game too.

There is a good size world to investigate, and I did like the time factor and seeing the differences it made to the terrain and the new people to talk with. I can see why people give it a perfect score, and why it would be near and dear to some people. That is why I say at the top that I think scoring has to do with when you play a game, and the time you have for it. It all melds together for a near and dear experience or a “yeah that was fun” kind of game.  Anybody who plays a role-playing game knows to grab a pen and paper when they start the game up.

Lagoon

A delightful surprise for such an old rpg.

The look of this game doesn’t look like an Illusion of Gaia or a Final Fantasy II.  It would be less in the graphics department, but not so much so that you would have to pretend. For instance, the store when you walk up to it, you get a pop-up of the storeowner; rather than going inside. So, I could appreciate the leap from my GB rpgs; I had been playing games like Final Fantasy Legend III. If you like role-playing games, and you do not mind simpler graphics, the game has a lot to offer in game play. It isn’t as long as other Snes role-playing games I have played, but you are satisfied at the end, so for me it was long enough. I don’t remember having much choice in where to go, it was rather linear, not open and free roaming, which doesn’t have to be a bad thing.  As I said earlier, I was glad to see the progress from the earlier Snes game and games that really showed what a Snes could do.
