The cottage sits on a knoll overlooking the Black Mountain Range. The views can be enjoyed from inside through two new patio doors, or outside from the comfort of rockers on the spacious front porch. The home is lovingly furnished with a warm mix of family heirlooms, antiques, and quilts. Local artwork adorns the shelves and walls. Clever design and many windows allow for an abundance of natural light. The cottage is a "studio" design, with a double bed in the main area, and a sleeping loft that includes another double mattress. A separate room provides a washer and dryer, plus ample storage. The bath includes a tub/shower and vanity sink with storage as well as handmade soaps from the Blue Ridge Soap Shed.

The kitchen comes completely furnished with stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, linens, and all other necessities for meal preparation. We even try to include all those little items that you don't want to purchase while on vacation, but often miss, such as condiments, herbs and spices, sugar, olive oil, vinegars, salt and pepper, etc. Bed and bath linens and towels are also included. Just bring your tooth brush and come on!

The cottage has a small library of books (novels and local interest), magazines, videos, and brochures on area attractions. There is a small TV with VCR, but no cable/satellite. Poplar Grove Convenience Store, less than mile away, stocks videos, food, camping supplies, toiletries - it even has a deli that serves up pizza and sandwiches.
