ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The WAMWCo Board has taken a proactive stance regarding system upkeep and upgrades, aimed at ensuring consistent and full availability of safe drinking water for Lake Almanor West residents. Examples of such actions in recent years include the following:
2009
- Reinstated pump logs at each pump house
- Started 3 year cycle of preventative maintenance on all engines
- Tested (old) Pump #6 for possible reinstatement
2010
- Refurbished and reinstated Pump #6 with the State of California
- Implemented annual exercising of all 74 street shut-off valves
- Upgraded Pump #3’s thirty-three year old control panel
- Upgraded Pump #5’s twenty-eight year old control panel
- Initiated reserve study and funding
- Contracted for new, automated supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system for three wells
- Contracted for professional water management services (at no extra cost)
2011
- Upgraded thirty-two year old power panels for Pumps #3 and #6
2012
- Replaced thirty-five year old lining in Water Tank #1
- Painted both water tanks
2013
- Implemented annual inspection/testing of the nine water main pressure reducing valves
- Increased the reliability of the booster pump needed for home fire protection on Eagle Crest Drive
2014
- Upgraded SCADA system for increased reliability
2015
- Contracted for expanded SCADA technical support
- Expanded testing/maintenance on all 86 fire hydrants
2016
- Established customer information website
- Upgrading SCADA radios to new FCC standards
- Updating corporate documentation
