In its capacity as the newly-established non-profit,
non-stock association, the Red Arrow High School Alumni Association,
Incorporated (the Association) embarked on a project to hold the first ever
reunion of all graduates from the Red Arrow High School. The
2009 RAHS Grand
Reunion is set for Feb. 28th and Mar. 1st.
As stated in the Articles of Incorporation, the existence
of the Association is summarily described as ‘to form a network and infuse the
value of empowered membership in the development and service to our Association,
Alma Mater and to our community.’
It is improbable that grand reunions will be held
annually. An annual meeting with a wide representation is also going to be a
challenge.
To that end, the group as part of its agenda during the
Feb.7, 2009 meeting, began a preliminary discussion of how the Association can
serve the general community.
There was consensus that we should identify projects that could be
implemented within certain time frames, i.e.:
- a short term project with scheduled completion in 2
years or less,
- an intermediate term project with scheduled completion
in 4
years or less
- and a long term project that would take more than 4
years to complete.
Reference was made to the list of suggested
Programs and Projects now posted in
the website. The group was urged to review the list.
The probability of holding the next grand reunion in 4
years is quite good. At that time the Association will then have grand reasons to
celebrate if we are to complete short and intermediate term projects as suggested.
To everyone, please put on your thinking caps. Submit your
ideas. A suggestion box will be provided at the General Membership meeting on
March 1, 2009. But don’t wait till then. Send it through email to
redarrowalumni@yahoo.com
(Please note:
The General Membership meeting did not materialize as planned. The
Association is yet to determine its definite direction in terms of which
projects to pursue. On a personal level, Wes Rollolazo is continuing to
work with the Boy
Scouts of the Philippines, Eastern Pangasinan Council on a version of
the Scouting Movement project).
