Sabella is one of those rare, visionary musical trios which has broken the barriers between conventional musical forms. Led by guitarist Rusty Sabella, who has composed, produced and performed six internationally-acclaimed albums, this trio employs a diverse combination of instrumentation, including mandolin, mandocello, flutes, saxophones, penny whistles, electronic woodwinds, piano, keyboards, and percussion. Rusty Sabella's high-energy compositions and ability to create richly textured arrangements that meld traditional and contemporary styles, show he is equally at home with divers musical genres. A professional musician since age 15, he has shared the stage with acts such as the Beach boys, bonnie Raitt, The Kinks, Tom Paxton, and the Philadelphia String Quartet. Sabella's unique multi-cultural style appeals to audiences of all ages. Having toured across three continents, Sabella performs everything from Italian dance tunes of the 12th Century to original jazz compositions. Their music has been referenced as 'Chamber Jazz," "Renaissance Jazz," and "Celtic Jazz." Rusty Sabella's credits include numerous recordings, television specials, national radio broadcasts (including Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion") and featured appearances with symphony orchestras. Sabella can also work magic in your schools with an abbreviated educational performance, which takes students on a transcontinental tour of music from the Middle Ages through jazz. |
