Pastor Thom's racing background...
I grew up in the Silicon Valley in California. As a teenager
my friends and I had seen the San Jose Mile and Half Mile many times. The fairgrounds were less than five miles from my house.
This stimulated a desire to one day race a bike myself. They were so fast and every move on the bike made a difference. What
a romance, what a thrill! My brother and I bought our first bike in '69. It had been mistreated by the previous owner so I
fixed it up and we rode the wheels off it. What was it? ...a Suzuki TZ90 with an orange tank and a GYT kit
pipe. I never did get used to having an up pipe... I would own two more used bikes before I actually went racing. My first
race bike was a '71 Bultaco 250 Pursang. My first race I finished middle of the pack and I was hooked. I
rode that bike a few more times and then I ordered a new bike and in Jan. of '73 I brought it home, a brand new Honda
Elsinore! In March of that year I raced it for the first time and I won the second moto and that was it, racing would
from then on be an important part of my life.
Pastor Thom's projects...
My '74 maico has hit a
snag. I need a transmission. So I am in the midst of finding a replacement. The '78 Maico is ready to ride. I have been working
on my '93 RMX and it is nearly ready. I have fork seals on order. The XL 200 should be sold soon.. I have a buyer but he needs
to come up with more money. I bought a new tire for it so when they pick it up it will be ready to ride. If I get to it I
will swap it out this week. I have been working on the motor home, too. The cold weather did not help things and I had to do some
repairs, nothing major. I discovered a leak and got it fixed and now I am drying the interior out…. The nice weather
the last few days has been a help.

From Stu...
I accepted Jesus as my Savior over six years ago but as a boy in Junior High School,
I tried to once or twice. In High School, I drifted away from God. Growing up in the 60's in a cliquish small town
with not much to do except ride and go out at night was a personal battle for me and I thought I could make it on my
own. But as I got older without God in my life, I felt so alone especially when my High School sweetheart moved
away. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a sad young man and noticed that my face was changing, especially
around my eyes. I looked so tired all the time and it was no wonder... I was living a hard life doing things that were
very bad for me. I guess I just finally grew up mentally and somehow began to allow God's urgings help me contact
a Pastor and ask him to be my spirtual partner. That Pastor was Randy Craker at the Church of the Nazarene in Kirkland, Washington.
Shortly afterward, I got married and began living a purpose-driven life when I accepted Jesus and was born
again. On my 50th birthday, I was baptized at KCN. I wouldn't be racing motocross or feel as healthy as I do
now without Pastor Randy and of course God's help. Now my life's real work has actually just begun because you see being
a Christian is a responsibility. Being Christ-like isn't the easiest path to take. It's full of mud holes, tall jumps, whoop-de-dos
and get offs. But when the going gets tough and you bog down, you always have God to lean on. Now my heart is full
of Love, Peace and Contentment and I hope you also find this feeling in your life. Let me and Pastor Thom help you.
I'm working on the Hodaka Wombats right now. They're both woods bikes originally shipped by Pabatco in the early and
late 70's. My early model 94 chrome-tanked 125 is a bit father along than the late model 03 oil-injected 125. I'm looking
for a stator for the early Wombat but the frame is powder-coated and my friend Steve Mitchell replaced the bearings and seals,
rebuilt the shifter cover and bored the cylinder. My late model Wombat needs the engine freshened up, rolling frame disassembled
and painted. This bike originally belonged to Pabatco machinist Curt Alexander and so I'm giving it a good restoration.
My first motocross race
...in 28 years!!

It's not a sport for the FAINT of HEART!!
Man I just can't believe I've been racing motocross again after being away
from it for 28 years! Pastor Thom and I met at my first Woodland race on April 30, 2005. He joined me for morning coffee and
on race day-morning we walked the track with Siege, my vintage racing mentor. His lovely girlfriend Marla encouraged me too
saying, "Once you get out there Stu, you'll do just fine." And you know what, I ended up taking 2nd in my class that
day.

From Pastor Thom...
I do not belong to a denomination but rather a church
fellowship. What is the difference? Well, a denomination has an organizational hierarchy with sectional leaders and national
leaders, with a political framework and a paid staff. A fellowship does not. It is rather a group of churches that have
banned together, for the benefit of all. There are no elected or paid leaders outside of the local church, no paid sectional
or national leaders.
