Man it's been too long
After having crashed at Mabton on my YZ 100 and the resulting issues and just life in general keeping me from racing, I did have a chance to enter the AHRMA National Race at Chehalis, Washington in August and got 4th in the 125 class on my Hodaka 100!! What a great event.. nothing but vintage motocross motorcycles as far as the eye could see. Then in September at last round of the Hammer & Tongs VMX series in Goldendale, Washington, I placed 5th in the 1-hour Grand Prix and also got a 5th overall in the Motocross race. GREAT TRACK and a fine 3rd place start in the second moto on my powerful Maico 440. It felt great to holeshot some of the same competition who always seemed to beat me to the first pole when I was on my YZ 250. Sweet!!

Notes from Pastor Thom - What's goin on.

It has been a rough couple of months, to quote a familiar quote, "It was the best of times…And it was the worst of times." In the first weekend of December we gave our daughter away in marriage to a wonderful guy and they we found out that my wife Kris’ sister had leukemia. It sure put a damper on our Christmas and then just a couple of weeks ago she passed away. Gratefully she felt no pain and the family was all there. That was tough but I am sure, in the long run it will be a blessing that we were there. She will be missed by a lot of people, her family tops the list..

Notes from Stu.. The Mabton GP and VMX event looms!
After putting up with the pain and anguish of surgery, recovery and then no racing for 4 months, I'm about to go absolutely stir crazy! To the rescue comes Raphael Racing and the first round of the Hammer & Tongs vintage MX series near the sleepy town of Mabton in Eastern Washington on February 24 - 25. The Grand Prix is Saturday at 1:00 PM with a full slate of Vintage and Evolution motocross on Sunday. Not expecting a lot out of myself but it'll sure be good to get out there again. Bringing the Yamaha IT125G for the X-Country and to defend my 100 class H&T title, my 1980 YZ100G. There will be plenty of sand but the weather promises to be clear over there. Can't wait to race!!

Riverdale is frozen SHUT
Can't believe another Riverdale event has been cancelled!! First it's a flood in November and now a track so hard in January that Blake can't even drive in stakes to lay out the course on the frozen tundra... Seems as if even at Woodland they cancelled the January races, if memory serves. All I can say is I'm a hankerin' for the sound of revin' and the smell of castor bean oil in the air. Man o' man...

No racing for me today
I hate staying home. It's a matter of a few things... some personal, some monetary. Can't... no, WON'T let those things get in the way of my racing... AGAIN. Hope everyone has a great time at Riverdale today!! For the January race, I'm bringing two new recruits, my friends Ryan Philips and Brad Joseph from Microsoft. Brad already has a vintage Husky 400 to ride and Ryan's going to try his hands on my 1980 Yamaha IT 125 converted for motocross. We WILL be there on January 13th and I'm definitely making plans for the Hammer & Tongs Winter Invitational Vintage motocross and Cross Country event at Mabton on February 24th...!!

Racers and friends... As you explore our web site, you'll learn all about Pastor Thom and me: our interests and hobbies, the people in our families, the way we both strive to grow in the grace of our Lord, the various motorcycles we own, and more. We've included a list of our favorite links to other sites and every once in awhile we'll talk about some of our favorite passages from the Bible.

But on this home page, we'll introduce ourselves and discuss our reasons for wanting a web site. We might put a picture of ourselves on this page...or just racing pictures that we especially like.

We might also include more information about our personal history: where we grew up, where we went to school, various places we've lived, where we go to church. As we take new pictures, we'll include some of ourselves and our friends racing on the various tracks around or engaging in other activities we enjoy, such as another sport or hobby besides vintage motocross.
