The state of North Carolina:
Sent over 216,000 men and women to serve in the Vietnam War.
More than 4,200 were wounded in action.
1,624 North Carolinians gave their lives in Vietnam.


 

State Charter

"Founded in 1978, Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc. is the only national Vietnam veterans organization congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to Vietnam-era veterans and their families. VVA is organized as a not-for-profit corporation and is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(19) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. "
 
 
The North Carolina Council of Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA):
  • Incorporated on 22 Feb 1995
  • Granted a charter on 8 March 1995
  • Made up of representative from the 19 chartered local chapters with 1680+ membership
  • Governed by a constitution and by-laws

Our Goals

The North Carolina Council shares the National VVA's goals:
  • To promote and support the full range of issues important to Vietnam veterans
  • To create a new identity for this generation of veterans
  • To change public perception of Vietnam veterans
