The Darkroom

Here's a tour around my darkroom...

First entry

The wet counters and deep sinks are resin coated plywood. The wet counters are 3 inches deep x fifteen total linear feet. The 45 inch long deep sink consists of 3 compartments, 12 inches deep. Plastic plumbing along the wall is connected to a self-made temperature mixing system.

Open shelving and storage areas ensure maximum visibility and access of all items. Glass shelves are used wherever possible for maximum light on the work surfaces.

White ceilings and flourescent lighting make the room a pleasure to work in. (The areas around the printing easels are painted flat black).

Special trays made from styrene sheet plastic for 10x22 and 12x26" panorama print sizes. Plexiglass Negative processing cylinders and washing trays, Plexiglass vertical print washers for 11x14 and 16x20 prints, and various purpose-made processing equipment.

I have two enlargers, a standard 4x5 Beseler with an Aristo V-54 cold light on an island in the center of the room. A second Beseler has been modified for 5x7 negatves, and has been fitted with a Zone VI cold light. (Currently not shown in the photos)
