John Kraft's Hardware & Implement Store was the post office when he was postmaster.

The fifth post office serving Chester Township opened on November 19, 1888 on the Kent County side of Gooding and Kenowa.  Later moved across Kenowa into Ottawa County on June 5, 1918, it finally closed on January 31, 1923.
