Conklin Creamer Building, Corner of Miller and Daggett

Conklin contained to two creameries.  Located at the east end of Miller Street, Kent Creamery was established about 1908.  Conklin Creamery, Farmers Cooperative Creamery Association, organized as a stock company, began operations in 1914, just prior to World War I.  They built a new building at the corner of Miller and Daggett in 1925.  The following article appeared in the May 1, 1925 Ravenna Times.

New Creamery Building For Conklin Started

Trenches for the new building for the Conklin Creamery foundation are dug and work will go ahead.

The site chosen is on the corner of Miller St. and the highway leading in from the Ravenna road.  The building will be 60 x 90 feet.  The walls will be glazed tile with partitions of the same material.  The roof will be a truss roof, self-supporting.  It will be one story high.  There will be office rooms, work room, cold storage, and other necessary departments.  It will be strictly modern in all respects.

John Bowzer provided the administrative management and Pearl Gillhespy served as operational manager.  The Creamery finally closed its doors in 1943.
