Here are a list of websites that will assist you with your research. Keep in mind that some sites
are better than other sites. Websites that end in ".gov", '.edu', and '.org" are considered quality sites that
you might use. However, one popular (yet useful) website is Wikipedia. Wikipedia is an online
encyclopedia that can be edited or changed by anyone. Thus even though the site does end in ".org" there is a possibility
that some of the information might not be accurate. You need to look at who wrote the website and when it was
last updated when selecting a quality site. If you have questions, ask.
The Purdue Online Writing Lab
This is probably the most important link that
you could use. This sited is published by the English Department
at Purdue University. On this site, you will find how to handle all of the technical
aspects of the research paper. You will find the MLA (Modern Language Association)
style guide most helpful with your bibliography. You will also find an APA (American
Psychological Association) style guide to help you with your paper. There is also information on in-text citations
that will show you how to give credit where it is due within your paper.
APA Style
Okay, so officially, this is the APA website to use. It is the quality and up to date guide for help with APA.
Long Island University
The Purdue page is good, but I realy like this page for the simple fact that it is color coded. It may lack from
the examples perspective, but the color coding makes identifying the different components easy.
Science Buddies
This site called Science Buddies will also help you with APA style. What I like about this site is that it gives
several examples for each major type of source.
Wikipedia
Wikipedia is a good source for biography information. Please keep in mind that this is a “blog” site. It can be changed. You can use this information, but do not
make this your sole site for biographical information.
ERIC (Education Resource Information Center)
This is where you can find critical information for your paper. I suggest going to the "advanced search" option.
Once you enter your keywords to search for, check the "full text" box. This means that the only results you should get
are full text articles. Before printing please do a print preview. Some of these documents can be very long, and
more than likely, you will not need the entire document.
Britannica.com
Check out free access to an encyclopedia, dictionary, thesaurus, as well as, top rated web sites.
Bartleby: Great Books Online
Here you can find several books online. However, you must print each individual page in order to print the whole
story or book.
Project Gutenberg
I like this site better than the one above it. Project Gutenberg contains numerous poems, books, and short stories
that are yours to print off and use for free. What I like about this site is that you can download a .pdf file to see
and print off the pages you want at once.
