English Composition – 1st Quarter Project

Time Capsule Assignment

 

Directions:  You are to create a time capsule that tells about you and the world you live in.  Your project must be in some type of folder with the cover decorated in a manner that describes you.  This project contains a variety of activities.  You should follow the directions for each activity to get all of the points.  Be sure to use correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.  Even though this is a project to show off your creativity, you need to remember that this is a writing assignment.  The project will be worth 10% of your quarter grade. 

 

Project Requirements (must be in this order)

1.     Project must be in some type of folder.  Folder must be decorated in a way that describes you.

2.     Title page that includes your name, your grade, due date, and class

3.     Research your name:  Where did it come from?  Why were you given this name? Are you named after someone?  What does your name mean?  DO you go by anything other than your given name?  Did your parents have any nicknames for you as a baby?  Tell me everything you can about your name.    *

4.     What was the biggest news event of 2008?  Explain.    * 

5.     Hero from History – Who would you like to meet?  Why?  Who was this person?  What are ten questions that you would ask this person when you meet them?   *

6.     What are 30 things that make you feel good?  (Rank them)

7.     What are your five favorite phrases?

8.     What animal are you most like? OR What animal do you most admire?  Why?   *

9.     If you could change anything about yourself, what would you change? Why?    *

10.                        What do you think the future will bring? *

11.                        Break down your day – What is your day like? (Create a schedule of your day from when you wake up to when you go to sleep)

12.                        If dreams could come true, what one thing would you wish for?  Why?    *

13.                        Create your own menu of the things you like to eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and snacks.

14.                        What are five words that describe you?

15.                        Create a list of the following favorites:  favorite actor, favorite actress, favorite song, favorite band, favorite athlete, favorite book, favorite food, favorite class, favorite teacher, best friend, favorite television show, favorite car, favorite summertime activity, favorite weekend activity, and favorite movie

16.                        Describe the ideal concert  *

17.                        What one thing will be the most useful in the future?  Explain *

18.                        What 10 songs (title and artist) must be on your ipod?

19.                        List twenty things that are popular now

20.                        What is one thing that you would like to keep forever? Explain  *

21.                         If you could delete one invention, what would it be?  Why?  How would life and the world be different?   *

* NOTE:  IF THE ITEM DOES NOT SAY “List,” THEN YOU MUST GIVE ME AN ELABORATED ANSWER.  (THIS MEANS THAT YOUR ANSWER SHOULD BE A COUPLE OF PARAGRAPHS AT LEAST  - APPROXIMATELY ½ PAGE.
