= Future Projects =

As every Mustang enthusiast knows... a Mustang project might be completed, but the Mustang is NEVER done.  In the future, I plan on adding some accents to my car... mainly things to enhance the asthetic appeal, but a few mechanical enhancements also.  These are just some ideas that have popped into my head.  I have not evaluated them for cost or feasibility... they just look like good ideas at first glance.

  • Sport Mirrors
  • Shaker Hood Assembly
  • Pop-open Gas Cap
  • Classic Air AC system
  • Front Disc Brake Conversion
  • Rear Disc Brake Conversion
  • Subframe Connectors
  • 1" Front Sway Bar
  • Rear Sway Bar
  • Manual Steering
  • 6"x9" 4 way speakers in vinyl covered encolusures

Like I said... brainstorm ideas.  Some I am really keen on, and some are just "wishes".  The mirrors, gas cap, and brakes are almost a guarentee... the only question is WHEN.  The shaker hood would be cool.  A guy I know is going to start producing carbon fiber reproductions of them... but I don't know if it will fit my aftermarket intake and carb.  He said there could be some customizations to help fit, but it is really too early to tell what can and cannot be done.  The air conditioning system is one of those luxury items... but real men do not need AC!  Especially with black vinyl seats!!

Sport Mirrors

The sport mirrors are also on track. I found a good set for $100 for a 1970.  I would have to paint them, but the whole car is gonna need a new skin soon anyway.

Gas Cap

I have a pop-open gas cap that cost me $15, not bad... except it is for a 1969, and that does not interchange with a 1970.  I have found a different cap for a 1970, but it has a crack in the lid.  The lid from the 1969 unit is worse - it has a whole chunk missing around the hinge - or I would use it.  I am currently talking to a fellow VMF'er about getting a new lid... it would not be a 1970 lid, but it would fit the cap physically, as all lids 1965-1970 are identical, or so I am told. Instead of the traditional red, white, and blue striped behind the running horse, this lid has a running horse in a black rectangle as seen here.  I think it sounds pretty cool, and since this isnt a concours restoration, it doesnt have to be "the original."  If that falls though, another option I am considering is filling the crack and painting the LID body color or argent, with the horse reamining silver with its stripes redone.  I think that would look cool too.
