I did some miscellaneous things today. My engine was VERY nasty
looking. I took some time to degrease it and paint it. MUCH
MUCH MUCH better.

Have you ever seem something SO
disgusting!?
|
Oh yeah baby!! Now THAT'S
what I am talking about!
|
Now isnt that 1000000% better?! Oh, I also got my coolant filter
today. VERY cool Tefba piece from Musselman Distributing Company
in Houston, Texas... phone 1-800-354-3254. $37 shipped. Worth every
penny:

I have decided to go with shrinking type hose clamps. I have been told
the clamp more evenly, and only get tighter as the heat increases. They
are called Powergrips. They are made by Gates, but NAPA carries
them under their name brand. I had to talk to 5 different sales
associated to get someone who knew what I was talking about. Here
are the hoses. I have also fit the upper radiator hose with the
filter in it. Fits mighty fine!

Six clamps... 4 upper, 2 lower.

Stock upper hose with the filter
installed.

Pulleys for a manual steering 1970 Mustang with a 351C are few and far
between... so what does a REAL man do!? He improvises! I stumbled
accross an article detailing the installation of late model 5.0 Mustang
pulleys onto a Cleveland engine. Evidently they are a direct bolt
on. The only catch being that the water pump pulley is totally smooth,
so belt grip is a little bit compromised. These are 6 rib K6 pulleys.
They are normally used in a serpentine w/ idler setup, but I am
using the stock alternator tensioning to keep them snug. I dont
foresee this belt slipping.

|
There they are... perfect fit.
|
Notice the very limited clearance...
call it 3/8"
|
All that is left is to install the radiator, hoses, and fill it up with
coolant/water mix. This has been a wicked project!
